D.C. grand jury declines to indict another defendant amid Trump's crime crackdown

A federal grand jury in Washington declined to indict a woman accused of threatening President Donald Trump on social media, another sign of pushback from D.C. residents over the use of federal law enforcement and deployment of National Guard troops in the city.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia accused Nathalie Rose Jones of Indiana of threatening to take the life of the president and transmitting threats over state lines on Instagram and Facebook.

Jones allegedly called Trump a “terrorist” and a “Nazi” in a voluntary interview with the Secret Service. She attended a march in Washington on Aug. 16 that went around the White House complex and was then arrested, though she said she had no desire at that time to harm Trump. Friends wrote in letters to the court that Jones has had mental health issues.

In a motion filed Monday, Jones' attorneys disclosed that a grand jury didn’t indict her.

“A grand jury has now found no probable cause to indict Ms. Jones on the charged offenses,” her federal public defenders wrote, seeking to get Jones released on her own recognizance.

Overruling a magistrate judge, Chief District Judge James Boasberg had ordered Jones released on home detention.

"Given that finding, the weight of the evidence is weak," her lawyers wrote of the grand jury's decision. "The government may intend to try again to obtain an indictment, but the evidence has not changed and no indictment is likely. For this reason the Court should release Ms. Jones on her personal recognizance to appear if required."

Of course. A DC jury would send a Republican to jail for jaywalking and refuse to indict or convict a Democrat for murder.

"another sign of pushback"

Sounds like NBC "news" is advocating death threats against the president.

Of course, if it was a senile Democrat POS and puppet like Biden, they'd be arcing out over the "pushback"...

NBC news is happy and wants the troops out so the residents can resume killing each other.

“transmitting threats over state lines on Instagram and Facebook”

Most of the rest of the USA is Bondi’s ‘oyster’.

Any grand jury in DC will not indict an anti-Trump person no matter what the crime especially if it is against a MAGA person. Conversely, any Trump supporter will be indicted and convicted no matter how petty the action.

I want to see what she said, calling someone a terrorist and a Nazi is not a threat.

Who really cares.

NAME AND SHAME on the internet. When this is viewed five years from now, nobody is going to care any thing about the details, the incident is the uncivil nature of the person towards a centrist and wide political movement. The sooner they figure out Trump, RFKjr, Tulsi and crew is just the figurehead that takes the punishment from the media, the sooner civil discorse is back. They will be back to bitching about fly over the second trump walks out the WH in 2029.

This is why none of the Russian hoax conspiracy can be prosecuted in DC. No GJ in DC would indict and no trial jury would convict Comey, Brennen, Clapper, Weissman McCabe etc. etc.

Venue has become everything. DC hack judge DC jury means outcome is determined before one word is spoken at trial.

transmitting threats over state lines on Instagram and Facebook

She was in Indiana and Trump could have been anywhere. So why was she up for indictment in DC where a jury would naturally throw it out? Change the grand jury venue and indict her again. That's not double jeopardy, is it?

That is a bizarre way to report this, they sure put a spin on it.

If it is acceptable for judges and juries to make decisions based on politics, is it acceptable for judges and juries to make decisions based on race and gender?

Would be assassins already feel encouraged by the soft on crime judges and prosecutors as well as the many hours of spiteful rantings against Trump on TV news panels.

Allowing more online threats and shrugging them off is a bad trend.
