No Worries!

The LA Mayor, and the Kalifornia Governor, will address getting businesses to return as soon as they are done restoring the fire-ravaged areas.

It’s supposed to be this way, why are they upset? They voted for it.

LA Mayor Karen Bass is doing her darndest not to be seen strutting through town, looking giddy and grinning ear to ear.
“All is going according to plan. Gavin was right!”

The History Channel miniseries about the changes in New York organized crime showed the days just before Mayor Giuliani was sworn in.

One formerly high class retail area had about three or four blocks continuously boarded up or used by derelicts as the camera slowly panned past them as the narrator said nearly one million people deserted New York due to crime and they took their spending money with them, causing New York to go into near bankruptcy. Also made opportunities for the crime lords to buy up enterprises to replace the owners running away.

The Mamdani Era is going to look like that.

It’s all quite deliberate and nihilistic.

You’re witnessing the crumbling of empire!

Your question and its answer is the central problem in California.

I wrote this fairly recently:

All the commercial districts I saw in Los Angeles looked sad, even the ‘Miracle Mile’. The Bernie Sanders restaurant near the Petersen Auto Museum was permanently closed.

Shouldn’t a bunch of cannabis outlets, nail salons and dollar stores and coffee places fill in the empty buildings?
Or maybe pole dance strip clubs. Unless that last one is outdated now. I don’t spend any time in Dem cities.

I get the impression that New York City is kind of thriving. There are vacant storefronts, but not at LA disaster levels.

See the Metal Leo channel. He walks California cities pointing out all the abandoned storefronts https://www.youtube.com/@LeoMetalTraveler/videos
