At least five people have been killed and 30 others injured in shootings across Chicago over Labor Day weekend, including a drive-by attack that left seven victims wounded late Saturday night, according to police.
The violent holiday weekend came as President Donald Trump renewed threats to send federal agents and National Guard troops to Chicago over the objections of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.
Trump on Saturday sent a warning to the Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker in a post on his social media platform, referencing recent crime in Chicago and saying Pritzker "better straighten it out, FAST, or we're coming!"
Illinois Gov. Pritzker, a Democrat, responded in a news conference a week ago to an earlier Trump threat to "straighten out Chicago, just like we did D.C.," by saying that the president's plan was "unprecedented and unwarranted. It is illegal, it is unconstitutional, it is un-American."

Taking territory before the guard arrives.
And two nights to go—let’s go Brandon!
It’ll go up …. the Crowne is flowing …..
“The Democrats hate black people and want them to die.”
I agree with you. Democrats have always used black people.
Then they brought in illegal immigrants to use.
Then they used us all.
A lot of it without our knowledge until recently.
And it’s obvious, since covid, that they didn’t care if we all died.
It would become a federal problem when there is uncontrolled mass rioting, with gangs battling each other in the streets.Where is that written?
As bad as Chicago is, we aren’t there yet.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
WRONG! It’s a federal problem, first because the level of crime can, and probably already does, interfere with interstate commerce, and second it threatens the safety of nonresidents of the state who must for whatever reason be physically present in that city.
Their elected representatives want that. Let them have it, good and hard.
You can make that argument. But then the next Democrat president can send in federal troops to seize a coal-fired power plant in a Republican state. After all, the “pollution” affects people in other states.
I’m not making light of your argument. It has merit. But the 10th Amendment should have teeth. Federal interference in a state’s problems should be reserved for only the most extreme problems.
Chicago isn’t there yet.
“Where is that written?”
It’s not. And the USSC has determined that POTUS has exclusive and total authority to determine whether conditions meet the threshold of its’ invocation.

Technically, he can invoke it and exercise those powers for any reason he chooses. The ONLY recourse is impeachment and removal.
And Trump is honestly trying to help cut down the carnage.
The Dems are trying to insult the law enforcement officers, falsify the data, pressure victims to not go to court and saying to just get used to the killings.
Those are differences.
Weekend not over yet.😎
Chicago isn’t there yet.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>....
Was it “there yet” when the Feds went after Capone and other murderous gangsters in the 1920s and 1930s?
Violation of federal civil rights....used against l.a. cops re Rodney King , also..George Floyd, trying it on Kyle Rittenhouse, In this case it might be used against Mayor of Chicago, and Pritzker, since they are conspiring to prevent law enforcement from enforcing the law against the gangs, and if anyone gets their civil rights violated, the conspirators (including the impeding politician) could be liable ..
They could probably use that angle against Newsom, Bass, Bonta..and mayor of Denver, and his D.A...fun,fun,fun...
Sounds like the Prixster and his boy Johnson are really on their crime problems. 35 shot isn’t bad. 5 dead is a little low.
Journalists use the word “amid” because it’s short and undefined. Its meaning is so generic that it means whatever you think it means, or nothing.
It’s a weasel word.
It’s okay, all these shootings are just mutual combat.
Interesting point. But the Feds went after Al Capone for tax evasion. And they went after other gangsters for violating federal Prohibition laws.
They weren’t patrolling the streets as regular police officers.
Don’t get me wrong. The concern about crime in Democrat cities is justified.
But the 10A - and the Bill of Rights in general - is meant to limit federal power. Sometimes those limitations allow bad people to do bad things.
We are both arguing from a conservative viewpoint, anyway. The gentle disagreement is where the balance should be.

Each day, Trump should give names and ages of victims killed in each blue state and cities. Pictures also.
You said it more bluntly than I did. But yeah, you’re on the right track.
The people of Chicago voted for this. In the last election, the had a choice between an incompetent radical (Johnson) and a moderate endorsed by the police union (Vallas). It was kinda close, but the radical won.
Let Chicago sort out its own problems without federal interference - but an exception should be made in cases of voter fraud.
And, yeah. I know innocents will suffer. The only way to fix that is to put federal troops on every street corner. That’s scary, and not necessary, yet.
