The federal government is now taking “direct and forceful action” to prevent illegal aliens from accessing taxpayer-funded public housing.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the launch of a clampdown on Friday.
“The beginning of the end for illegals living in taxpayer-funded housing starts now,” HUD Sec. Scott Turner stated in a social media post which included a letter delivered to more than 3,000 Public Housing Authorities (PHA) across the U.S.
Sec. Turner is directing all PHAs to submit a “full and comprehensive accounting of all tenants who are receiving a Section 8 voucher and/or residing in HUD-funded housing” within 30 days of receipt of the letter.
“HUD is requiring the name, mailing address, number of bedrooms, the cost of the unit, and proof of American citizenship or eligible immigration status as defined by the law.”
Turner says the D.C. Housing Authority is the first PHA being scrutinized, but all PHAs are expected to comply in the coming weeks.
“No longer will illegal aliens be able to leave citizenship boxes blank or take advantage of HUD-funded housing, riding the coattails of hardworking American citizens,” Turner stated.
“Currently, HUD only serves one out of four eligible families due, in part, to the lack of enforcement of prohibition against federally funded assistance to illegal aliens. HUD will leverage all available enforcement actions against entities who do not comply with the request for citizenship information, including, but not limited to, examination of HUD funding and/or evaluation of PHA program eligibility.”
More than 3.2 million households across the U.S. receive HUD funding at a cost of more than $45 billion per year.

I’ve witnessed Section 8 housing work miracles for those who truly deserve it.
For years I assisted people with developmental disabilities obtain real employment. Mostly part-time, entry level positions. Many were also on SSI. You can receive SSI and work. If you earn enough regular wages, your monthly SSI is reduced. I even had a few that made enough wages to cease receiving SSI. I would tell them that they could receive regular Social Security when they retire. Whether Sec 8 or HUD funding, they would adjust the rent subsidy as their wages went up or down.
Employers loved dedicated workers who would show up every day, and be thankful for their jobs. One day, an employer who had hired six of my clients called with a great story. Joe had arrived at work with a 105° fever. He was beet red, but he had a shift that day, so he went to work. The employer sent him home, and he asked me if we could clone Joe. Too many of his workers call in sick with the sniffles, especially on Mondays and Fridays.
I have also seen incredible abuse, favoritism, and fraud. Let’s hope that the present efforts weed out the fraudsters.
Is “public housing” included in the expensive hotels where hundreds of illegals and homeless were housed with room service meals and streaming TV subscriptions?
One reason for room service in the past was the drug addict homeless would have to go downstairs and back to the streets to contact drug dealers if the tax paid room service was ended. The whole idea of the homeless plan was to keep them away from being seen on the sidewalks.
I believe they should populate the neighborhoods with illegals of these judges who rule against Trump’s (and the peoples’) efforts. I mean saturate them with illegals.
How about filing charges for local officials ignoring the statute?

HUD Section 8 is a voucher good for any landlord or building management that accepts the voucher. Allegedly they have to register and meet criteria...yeah.
We have a Section 8 complex right down the street. In 2024 the management plastered the complex with Harris/Walz yard signs. I questioned them doing that. They told me the complex owners and management support whichever candidate campaigns on providing public housing for all.
If the HUD crackdown works, that place (1,600 apartment units) will be a ghost town. Illegals are all they have in there.

Trump named an acting Sec of HUD on his first day. That acting Sec. could have issued such an order immediately.

I’ve known landlords that rue the day they signed up to rent to Section 8.
Therefore I would never do it.
That Section 8 brings back unhappy memories of lowlife types that used to live uncomfortably close to me. My wife said “There is a really creepy couple. I can’t understand how they make enough money to move in.” Answer turned out to be Section 8 when Obama was king.
After the Almeda fire, Oregon, illegal aliens made out! They were the first, and often the only ones getting any help from the designated NGO. It didn’t matter if they lost anything or not. All the invaders benefited.
Illegal aliens and immigrants in Oregon who never owned a home were bought brand new beautiful manufactured homes after the Almeda fire! I got $25,000 after losing everything and had to pay it back plus $10,000 interest! They took my social security checks!
