Here are 10 cities with the highest crime rates

President Trump has threatened to send National Guard troops into more American cities after deploying soldiers in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles this year.

He’s highlighted Baltimore and Chicago as cities in particular need of help fighting crime, though Monday he appeared to back off his threat to unilaterally deploy the National Guard into cities uninvited.

Baltimore has the third-highest rate of violent crime, while Chicago ranks 29th among cities with at least 500,000 residents, according to the latest FBI data.

Trump’s focus on cities in blue states — those led by Democratic governors — with Black mayors has drawn criticism from Democrats, who have pointed out that some cities in red states have higher crime rates.

Below are the 10 big cities with the highest rate of crime per 100,000 people, based on FBI data from 2024 on murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

...some cities in red states have higher crime rates...

Those would all be cities that have been run by Democrats for decades.

I have to wonder how good the crime data is. One has to wonder if any fudging went on with the numbers? Especially in the Democrat controlled cities.

Yea! Memphis is #1! We did it! Now we can have the place all to ourselves!

There is a direct link between the percentage of blacks and the amount of violent crime. Not one elected Republican is going to ever publicly state this fact.

About 20 years ago we drove through Memphis on our way north. Had some free time so we visited Elvis’s mansion. If we had known about the crime there we might not have stopped.

I don’t buy this list. Nashville is not a crime infested city. Memphis, yes.

I wonder what the criteria is.

Chicago has been fudging their numbers for years. This doesn’t reflect the true picture of Chicago crime.

I wonder what the criteria is.

Some cities have openly stated they no longer report some crimes so they don't appear racist.

And that list is despite the fact that Dem cities are lying about their crime stats. Chicago’s rate is much higher than what is reported.

yes, they “fudge” the numbers - non-reporting of data to the FBI’s UCR (which is VOLUNTARY - and President Trump could change that with his signature for ANY police dept. which accepts a cent of federal subsidy) being the most common way this is done.

Since living in Maryland from 1994, after the passage of the “Shall issue” to “may issue” of carry permits, violent crime went up to the point Maryland was in the FBI’s data as in the TOP ten most violent states in the union every year thereafter.

However, there were many years (election years) when PG and Baltimore county would withhold data from the FBI the preceding year so the data available for election year would make it LOOK as if crime had gone down.

It didn’t. It always went up, proportional to the population growth; per capita violent crime has always made Maryland a top ten state for criminal enterprise.

Didn’t surprise me to see Nashville on that list. It’s run by dementiacrats, “progressives” (you know, a communist) who allowed ANTIFA/BLM to run rampant, burn police station(s-?) and more.

High crime? The place is run by democrats.

Time to invest in private contract prison management services companies. My suspicion tells me that about eight million criminals must remain in lock-up.

My Dad worked in a state maximum security prison. He did so for around 25 years. We lived on the property of the prison farm. Frequently, inmates assigned to farm work were around our house, particularly around holidays because my parents would make a holiday meal for them. (Around 15). They would frequently remind me that they were very thankful that they were kept in prison. They were just not capable of living unmanaged and controlled. The farm workers were usually in their late 50's to early 70's. They were all lifers.

So my point being, I know reality.
