Authorities say the cocaine haul, part of a $473 million drug seizure, carried enough lethal doses to kill every resident of Florida.
The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday apprehended suspected drug smugglers and seized drugs off the coast of Florida.
It was one of several operations aimed at preventing drugs from reaching the United States.
The drugs were part of a recent haul that included more than 61,000 pounds of cocaine and 14,000 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $473 million.
In total, authorities said the drugs came from 19 different interceptions in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea between June 26 and Aug. 18.
“This represents a significant victory in the fight against transnational criminal organizations, highlighting our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation from illicit trafficking and its devastating impacts,” said Rear Adm. Adam Chamie, Coast Guard Southeast District commander. “To put this into perspective, the potential 23 million lethal doses of cocaine seized by the U.S. Coast Guard and our partners are enough to fatally overdose the entire population of the state of Florida, underscoring the immense threat posed by transnational drug trafficking to our nation.”

And its still just a drop in the bucket of all the cocaine that comes into the country every year.
A Miami “Floridaman” sold reefer off our ship when weed first got popular back around ‘68. The crew of the ship was made of half Coast Guard Intelligence and half regular personnel in short order. Nobody would tell me what happened in the Captain’s Masts or whatever punishment was dished out to these wayward souls when the poop finally hit the propeller. I was so naive that I had no clue what was going on.
By the time they get it up their noses... It’s 85% baby powder and etc., 15% cocaine. The pure stuff never makes it to the street.
Well sure……if they take it all at once. At standard Florida consumption rates it could last a week or two.
Can we have Trump change it to California? I have friends in Florida.

And the scariest part of all is that it comes in because of demand for it...
