Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on 25 August that Kiev plans to secure at least $1 billion monthly from European nations to purchase US weapons to continue his war against Russia.
Zelensky made the comment while speaking alongside Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store during a press conference in Kiev on Monday…
“I refuse to make peace. Give me money.”

Zelensky can do whatever he wants. And the EU can do whatever it wants. Just no US aid. Not a single penny. It’s none of our business.
But if Zelensky or the EU wants to buy US arms at full price (no discounts), I wouldn’t be against that. Just not the most modern stuff, please. We need that for ourselves.
Europe should pay. Ukraine is defending Europe against Russia. It only makes sense for Europe to pay.
Of the $1 billion, $100 million will go to buy weapons and $900 million will go in Zelensky’s and his cronies’ Swiss bank accounts.

Maybe he should ask for his vacationing residents back first... I live in Switzerland now and any time I go hiking or travel, I see vacationing Ukrainian “refugees.” And they’re all from western cities like Lviv.. no one is from the eastern war zone. Just today while on a hike above Lake geneva I chatted with a young dude in his late 20’s who is on a long hike back to Austria. I walked away thinking, funny you’re not defending your country at the front like the poor kidnapped men who get pushed into vans.

The reality - Zelensky and the EU are stringing the peace process along until the current weapons and direct cash welfare payouts that are floating re Ukrainian economy runs out in ta few months to manufacture a crisis that they can use to try to force President Trump to intervene militarily to prevent a Ukrainian military and economic collapse.
Zelensky and the EU are stringing things along and playing President Trump every bit as much, if not more, than Putin is.

The EU cannot afford to allocate 5% of GDP to defense spending, and then spend that money on imports. Imports are a negative in the GDP equation.
They will have to allocate 5% and spend it domestically on domestically produced weapons.
The $1B per month is similarly money they cannot afford. At the very least, they will have to insist the bulk of this $1B sent to Ukraine be spent on strictly European materiel, for the same GDP reasons.
No one in the EU is currently paying 5 percent- all talk so far, no action. Promises, promises, and with their current debt problems, they simply will not be able to pony up.
