Decision comes as Trump administration implements continuous vetting for roughly 55 million visa holders

Secretary of State Marco Rubio's announcement this week halting work visas for foreign commercial truck drivers drew praise from conservatives in the wake of a deadly accident in Florida.

"Effective immediately, we are pausing all issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers," Rubio announced on X on Thursday. "The increasing number of foreign drivers operating large tractor-trailer trucks on U.S. roads is endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers."

The move follows a deadly crash in Florida in which an illegal immigrant from India allegedly struck and killed three people while driving a truck. Questions still loom about how he obtained a commercial driver’s license, as federal investigators say the suspect, Harjinder Singh, failed English proficiency and road sign tests.

Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, stated the move is "long overdue" and that commercial truck drivers should not be brought in from other nations in the first place.

"There are legitimate questions about how qualified these foreign truck drivers are, following the horrible episode in Florida, where a non-English-speaking illegal alien who never should have been given any kind of driver's license caused the death of three people as he botched an illegal U-turn in the middle of a divided highway," Vaughan said.

Americans can't depend on trucking companies and state regulators to make sure foreign truck drivers are competent and safe, she added.

Vetting 55 million LEGALS. That includes those on public assistance and those with a DUI/hit and run offense. The hit and runners-just charge the car owners if they can find them.

Another field the immigrants and illegals took over.

I wonder where America, and the American family, and the American working man would be today, if not for that 1965 immigration law.

Freepers should be aware that the vast majority of these visa holders are not in the US.

If you need a visa to enter the US as a tourist or other sort of temporary visitor, your visa is good for 10 years. However, you can only stay six months at a time. Most visitors do follow the rules and leave, so there are tens of millions of people living overseas who are still holding a valid visa.

The trucking company involved in the Florida crash is White Hawk. Their federal license to operate has been revoked. A real fly by night operation. Previously they had many citations and they had dropped their insurance.

Have AI look for similar companies.

The Hart-Cellar Bill.

A ‘’bi-partisan’’ nightmare of a bill written by freshman Senator Edward Kennedy(D-Mass.)

Where would the American workingman be if not for that bill?

On top of the world.

I never thought I’d see Rubio amount to anything more than
a hill of beans. He seems to be doing a good job.

It was actually JFK’s fault, his immigration goal was passed in his honor, JFK ran on chain immigration in his platform and had written the book on immigration.

“However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Boston’s WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s.

In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedy’s blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960.
In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin.

After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFK’s legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, “I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies.” Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.”

This is the democrat party platform that JFK ran on in 1960.
Immigration:

We shall adjust our immigration, nationality and refugee policies to ELIMINATE DISCRIMINATION AND TO ENABLE MEMBERS OF SCATTERED FAMILIES ABROAD TO BE UNITED WITH RELATIVES ALREADY IN OUR MIDST.

THE NATIONAL-ORIGINS QUOTA SYSTEM OF LIMITING IMMIGRATION CONTRADICTS THE FOUNDING PRINCIPLES OF THIS NATION. It is inconsistent with our belief in the rights of man. This system was instituted after world war I AS A POLICY OF DELIBERATE DISCRIMINATION BY A REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESS.

The revision of immigration and nationality laws we seek will implement our belief that enlightened immigration, naturalization and refugee policies and humane administration of them are important aspects of our foreign policy.

These laws will bring greater skills to our land, reunite families, permit the United States to meet its fair share of world programs of rescue and rehabilitation, and take advantage of immigration as an important factor in the growth of the American economy.

In this World Refugee Year it is our hope to achieve admission of our fair share of refugees. We will institute policies to alleviate suffering among the homeless wherever we are able to extend our aid.

We must remove the distinctions between native-born and naturalized citizens to assure full protection of our laws to all. There is no place in the United States for “second-class citizenship.”

The protections provided by due process, right of appeal, and statutes of limitation, can be extended to non-citizens without hampering the security of our nation.

We commend the Democratic Congress for the initial steps that have recently been taken toward liberalizing changes in immigration law. However, this should not be a piecemeal project and we are confident that a Democratic President in cooperation with Democratic Congresses will again implant a humanitarian and liberal spirit in our nation’s immigration and citizenship policies.

Effective immediately, we are pausing all issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers," Rubio announced.

My read on Rubio's comments is that he pausing issuance on any "new" trucker work visas. This does little to nothing to help the American worker. There are over a million foreign truck drivers and Rubio's announcement will not pause or revoke their work visas.

There are MILLIONS of foreigners here with work visas and every job they take is one taken from an American.

Our government is in cahoots with businesses and special interests to bring in maintain millions of foreign workers.

Our government, both democrats and repubicans, will continue to sell out Americans so long as they maintain our anti-American work visa program.

JFK was a sex crazed dirt bag who had one of the worst civil rights records of any US president.

And yet his image is always there on The History Channel as if he were The Second Coming.

It was JFK’s dream, passed by the democrats and his brother, it would have been the same if JFK had lived and there was no Teddy.

JFK is thought of as one of our greatest WWII heroes with many movies, books and articles promoting him.

JFK’s medal for valor was for non-combat valor, what the Army calls the Soldier’s Medal, the Navy calls the Navy and Marine Corps Medal.

In 1960 4 veterans were on the ballot, JFK and Nixon, and their veep candidates.

Nixon was a respected Navy Lt. Commander in the Pacific.

LBJ as a Navy Lt. Commander was awarded a silver Star.

Henry Cabot Lodge was a big-time Army combat hero and Nixon’s running mate.

“Lodge was a major in the 1st Armored Division. That tour ended in July 1942, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered congressmen serving in the military to resign one of the two positions, and Lodge, who chose to remain in the Senate, was ordered by Secretary of War Henry Stimson to return to Washington.

After returning to Washington and winning re-election in November 1942, Lodge went to observe allied troops serving in Egypt and Libya, and in that position was on hand for the British retreat from Tobruk.

Lodge served the first year of his new Senate term, but then resigned his Senate seat on February 3, 1944 in order to return to active duty, the first U.S. Senator to do so since the Civil War. He saw action in Italy and France.

Promoted to lieutenant colonel, in the fall of 1944 Lodge single-handedly captured a four-man German patrol. By March 1945 he was decorated with the French Legion of Honor and Croix de Guerre with palm. His American decorations included the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal. At the end of the war in 1945 he served as a liaison and interpreter to U.S. Sixth Army Group commander General Jacob Devers in Devers’ surrender negotiations with the German forces in western Austria.

After the war Lodge returned to Massachusetts and resumed his political career. He continued his status as an Army Reserve officer and rose to the rank of major general.”

I’m well aware of Kennedys PT 109. I must have watched that movie and read the book ten times as a kid.

Fact is Kenndey had either moved his boat out of position or was not aware that he had drifted apart from the two other boats in the squadron that night and hadn’t maintained radio silence.

When the starboard side lookout yelled “Ship at 2 o’clock!’’ the Amagiri appeared out of the darkness and plowed into the starboard side, I believe that’s the 2 o’clock position.

Kenndey and his crew, minus two who were lost, went into the water and endured a perilous couple of days.

After they were rescued Joe Kenndey pressured the Navy to have his son given The Medal Of Honor.

However a naval board of inquiry denied that because of Kenndey’s actions that led to the sinking he was given a Navy Cross.

He wasn’t awarded any medals for combat valor, there was no Navy Cross, he was awarded the Purple Heart and that Navy and Marine Corps Medal I mentioned, for non-combat valor.
