Three youths were arrested in connection with the assault of a bus driver in northeast Calgary last week.
Calgary police say they heard from Calgary Transit that a bus driver had been assaulted in the early morning hours of Aug. 15.
The female driver told police that three children were leaving the bus at Rundle CTrain station when they hit the side of the bus and then pointed a gun at her.
Officers were able to find the three suspects who were getting on a train at the station. The group was arrested.
Police say officers seized two replica guns and a knife during the arrest.
A 13-year-old girl is facing charges for assault, using a weapon for a crime, weapon possession in public, and concealing a weapon.
Two 11-year-olds were also arrested but cannot be charged with a crime under the Criminal Code of Canada since they are under the age of 12. They were released into the custody of their parents.
None of the youths can be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
An 11-year-old was among a group of youths arrested following the robbery of a liquor store and the armed robbery of a Calgary bus driver last month.
Police say youth-related crime in Calgary has gone down 9 per cent compared to last year, but it is 6 per cent higher than the five-year average. Violent crime by youth has seen a 17 per cent increase compared to the five-year average.

Rundle is a rather poor part of the city, filled with plenty of 'new Canadians'😉. On a Friday night, why were such feral yoots OUT PAST MIDNIGHT, with no parents nearby? Why isn't Social Services INVESTIGATING the LACT OF PARENTING by the DNA donors of these miscreants?

Almost certainly more creative data-reporting from the folks in charge.
Come on, Calgary. In for a penny, in for a pound. Classify all youth-related crime as civil nuisances. Then you can claim that youth-related crime is down 100%.

When an 11 year old is out past midnight and up to no good, I don’t think releasing them to the custody of their parents is going to help.

Kids need to be charged with crimes when they commit them. Especially violent crimes with weapons. I don’t care what age they are.
No idea. In Canaduh, we get no such info. If I had to guess, First Nation/Native Canadians/First Peoples/Aboriginal People, etc., whatever they choose to be called this week. So many baby mommies have 6 or more kiddies, with six or more sperm donors.
I agree. Most likely Native kids. Many of these ‘families’ have the same number of sperm donors, as the baby momma has kids.
