Ukraine Attacks Russian Oil Pipeline; Trump Angry
The New American ^ | August 22, 2025 | Paul Dragu

Ukraine has now attacked for the third time a Russian oil pipeline that supplies multiple European nations. The attacks angered President Donald Trump after he received a note from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

The Ukrainians hit the Druzhba (“Friendship”) II oil pipeline, which stretches for about 2,500 miles. The latest attack struck the Unecha oil pumping station in Russia on Thursday night. The Soviet-era conduit is considered among the longest in the world. The pipeline delivers Russian oil through Ukraine before heading to Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, according to reports. Druzhba I supplied Germany and Poland, but that was halted after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Germany still buys Russian energy, but only after being laundered through other European nations.

Trump “Very Angry”

Trump was not happy to hear the news. He received a note from Orbán via the prime minister’s political director, Balazs Orbán (no relation). The note said:

Five days ago, just before the historic meeting between President Trump and Putin in Alaska, Ukraine carried out drone strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia. This pipeline supplies Hungary and Slovakia, two countries that have no other means of importing crude oil. Hungary supports Ukraine with electricity and petrol, in return they bomb pipeline that supply us. Very unfriendly move! We wish President Trump every success in his pursuit for peace!

Trump responded to Orbán with a handwritten note of his own:

Victor — I do not like hearing this — I am very angry about it. Tell Slovakia you are my great friend —Donald.

Balazs Orbán posted the exchange on his X account.

The Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine carried out the attack. The unit is led by Robert Magyar Brovdi, an ethnic Hungarian who, reportedly, is...

“Hungary supports Ukraine with electricity and petrol, in return they bomb pipeline that supply us”

Figures you would support this.

Neither Putin, Zelinski nor Europe want peace. Each has their own reason all of them selfish.

Only way to try to stop the war is:

1) Heavy financial stain, high tariffs, embargos on Russia and its trading partners (including European nations buying their oil)

and/or

2) Stop selling arms to Ukraine

or

1) Arm Ukraine to the teeth to do real damage to Russia with conventional arms never thought would ever be given to Ukraine.

Yup, it’s truly not in the interest of Ukraine to do such an idiotic thing sounds like they need a change in leadership.

Or

1) Arm Ukraine to the teeth * *they have no manpower left, especially Infantrymen.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded to Szijjártó, reminding him that it was Russia that started the war and refuses to end it, and accusing Budapest of doing little to reduce its energy dependence on Russia.

"You can now send your complaints—and threats—to your friends in Moscow," Sybiha wrote.

That’s a shame? Yes, it is also a shame Hungary cuts off the electricity it supplies to the EU…..the EU is fracturing, in recession due to energy shortages, ( especially Germany) , it appears Ukraine is the drowning man…

…..the drowning man brings down everything close to him.

C’mon now. Western Europe especially Germany, is to this day, buying oil and gas from Russia.

Why should we waste selling our weapons to a country whose allies continue to pay Russia for oil and gas and supply them with the wealth to build more weapons to destroy ours (which may we may need someday to defend ourselves)?

Y’all know this is a local war between family? Ukraine established Russia!
Stay out of it!
Let the Europeans deal with it.
Russia will suffer greatly, but will win, temporarily.
They will have a “Vietnam” on their hands.
Unlike the price America paid for a war that should have never been. This war is in their back yards!

“1) Heavy financial stain, high tariffs, embargos on Russia ** not working.”

Since Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Council has adopted 10 packages of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. The sanctions aim to weaken Russia’s ability to finance the war and specifically target the political, military and economic elite responsible for the invasion.

Figures are proving that the restrictive measures are yielding results. Both the World Bank and the IMF estimated that in 2022, Russia’s trade in goods and services was set to decline significantly. For 2023, imports are forecasted to be higher than in 2022 while exports are forecasted to further drop according to the World Bank or remain almost at the same level according to the IMF.
