Florida’s Election Reform Sets The Standard Nationwide

Today, the James Madison Institute (JMI) released a new report examining Florida’s two-decade journey to becoming a national model for election integrity, transparency, and accessibility.

Following Florida’s efforts after the 2000 election, JMI notes that the legislative efforts and administrative reforms demonstrate how the state has implemented changes aimed at ensuring secure, accurate, and transparent elections for voters.

Key reforms include:

• Statewide voter registration database for real-time, accurate voter rolls

• Strict photo ID requirements and signature verification at polls

• Secure ballot intake stations with daily monitoring

• Creation of an Election Crimes Office to investigate fraud and misconduct

JMI describes Florida as the “Gold Standard” because of the reforms that state has adopted, delivering accurate and timely results in both the 2020 and 2024 elections, all while having record voter turnout.

The downstream effects of these laws are countless, but chief among them is a high degree of voter confidence in our elections.

I just wrote to the Idaho Secretary of State, Elections Division and asked 1) why wasn't Idaho recognized instead of Florida and 2) how many of the steps Florida took to make sure elections are honest have been implemented in Idaho.

Mail in voting?? It used to be you had to request and absentee ballot and needed a reason you weren't voting in person.

A It usually was reserved for service members who couldn't get home to vote. Not 1/2 million - Im too busy to vote/ fake votes.

Missing from the list is Governor Scott and DeSantis removal of corrupt County Supervisors of Elections. Those actions sent a strong message to the County Elections Offices that fraud and corruption would be severely dealt with.

The National GOP is as corrupt as the Democrats. This is a State issue and should be dealt with by them. Florida did not ask the National GOP to help fix its problems.

Also, many of the above listed states have Open Primaries. The GOP in those Open Primary states need to go to Closed Primaries. We do not need Democrats voting for GOP Primary Candidates.

This is a State issue and should be dealt with by them.
Quite right, however coordination consistent across the nation is advisable.

Florida did not ask the National GOP to help fix its problems.
FLA didn't need help. As I indicated, there are RINO-controlled states that need discipline.

Quite obviously. Some tough love from the national level is clearly warranted.

As has been said, politics is a blood sport and we should act as a team, not random players. See, for example, the Dem party.
