Former Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio announced Monday he is launching a comeback bid, giving Democrats a boost in their longshot campaign to win back control of the Senate.
With no serious primary competition, Brown’s announcement effectively kicks off a nearly 15-month general election face-off against Sen. Jon Husted, a Republican appointed earlier this year by Gov. Mike DeWine to fill the seat vacated by JD Vance when he became vice president.
Brown, 72, was heavily courted by Democrats who saw him as their only hope to flip a Senate seat in an increasingly out-of-reach red state.
Brown has cultivated a brand as a grizzled populist who supports the labor movement and is skeptical of free trade agreements. He has repeatedly outperformed other Democrats in the state, including in 2024, when Brown lost his seat by fewer than 4 percentage points.

So basically NJ set the precedent for how the dems would handle the 2020 (pick a dementia patient and keep him out of sight) and 2024 (insert a last minute candidate chosen by party bosses) elections.
Is Husted as strong a candidate as Vance? We’ll find out.
From Wikipedia, he seems to be in politics since finishing graduate school. Serving as Secretary of State then Lt Governor under DeWine. His electoral numbers are ranging from mid to high 50%s.
Just like Xiden and equally corrupt.
Feel the excitement!
Husted has NO CHANCE to defeat Brown. /sarc
Stubborn goes with Stupid. Ref: Biden.
With the rigging in major cities, + the mail-ins, that's the ONLY way he wins.....total asshat.
Perception > reality
Low information Ohio voters always thought of Sherrod Brown as a blue-dog union democrat, and that perception probably sticks on him to this very day.
I suspect that if enough money is spent on the campaign to expose his voting record, he can be defeated, but he does have an advantage over unknown democrats.
This was done to clear the way for passage of two recent bills, the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act.

According to local media, pro-crypto Super PACS have donated $41 Million to support Republican Bernie Moreno in the Ohio Senate Race. His opponent, sitting Senator Sherrod Brown, is an outspoken critic of the industry.
This major investment is part of a larger strategy to systematically defeat crypto’s biggest political opponents.
When they finally get to the end game - programmable money, and the severe and permanent loss of freedom that goes with it, we can thank the Republicans.
Passage of these bills, as well as Trump’s EO allowing 401k access to crypto and private equity, will result in a lot of - perhaps unsavvy - regular folks losing a lot of money.
Investing in crypto and private equity is for risk-takers and people with insider knowledge. Not for everyday people trying to build a retirement fund.
That doesn’t mean that non-insiders will all do poorly. Indeed, many have been successful. But that doesn’t mean that Joe Schlub should be encouraged to invest his retirement funds in things that historically carry LOTS of risk.
