How asinine. Despite Republicans constituting 38% of the vote in California, Gov. @GavinNewsom recently redistricted to give Democrats 82% of the congressional seats (providing Republicans only 9 out of 52 seats) - a 20% advantage. Now, even though California’s constitution prohibits mid-decade redistricting and is done by an “independent” commission, he wants to gerrymander further. That’s what should be “shocking.”
According to the Texas Democrats that fled our state (without calling out what California and other blue states have done), if Republicans do redistricting, it’s a threat to democracy. Yet, if Democrats do redistricting, it’s democracy itself. How disingenuous and hypocritical.

Should the Supreme Court weigh in on this? Is it acceptable to maneuver college admissions and employment to meet race ratios but not acceptable to maneuver Congress representation to meet race ratios?
Remove the illegals and they constitute a helluva lot more than that.
The whole point is urban control. Sen. Dirksen warned of it in 1964. The Voting Rights Act where preclearance will be required in leftist states where most people are not represented and only the same urban enclave gets all seats because it sends the message that in a 200-mile swath, your representative is on the other side and you have no representation because you are not in their choice city.
Scotus has already said it’s not within their purview. The only way gerrymandering can be fixed is through action by Congress, so don’t hold your breath.
They’re nothing if not consistent: The Kalifornia legislature is at 60/19 (house) and 30/10 (senate) DEM/GOP splits.
It’s OK when Democrats do it. It’s oppressive, authoritarian, and down right NAZI when Conservatives do the same thing.
If it wasn’t for Double Standards the left would have no standards at all......
The odds of "accidentally" having 14 consecutive acts go in one and only one direction is the same as flipping a coin and getting 14 Heads in a row... it's 1-in-16,384.
That fraudulent act led to millions of Americans being directly disenfranchised, and not able to get the representative of their choosing. We are told that requiring an ID to vote will magically disenfranchise millions of blacks (who the Left assumes are too dumb to figure out how to get one), but somehow stealing 5-7 actual Congressional seats isn't?!?!?
And Why hasn't ANYONE lifted a finger to get this remedied immediately? Special elections are not exactly a new concept. Just need a handful of them to fix the "mistakes", and to stop disenfranchising millions of citizens.
Someone has to bring the case to SCOTUS. Trump should sue as UNCONSTITUTIONAL on the basis it is not a republican form of government to not be represented fairly.
The 14-member Commission is made up of five Republicans, five Democrats, and 4 not affiliated with either of those two parties. The Commission must draw the district lines in conformity with strict, nonpartisan rules designed to create districts of relatively equal population that will provide fair representation for all Californians.
Nothing in this says that California districts should (or can) be redrawn in order to settle a score with another state.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument
Until ballot box fraud is stopped, political party percentages are meaningless imo.
Finally, Texas is stepping up to the plate to counter the Democrats unfair tactics. Ohio, Florida, Missouri, and others should follow the example of the Lone Star State.
Tough shit. The winners always gerrymander.
Good, Democrats need to take responsibility for their “achievements” in California. Like being No. 1 in poverty.
Wait, what? How do any of these numbers constitute a 20% difference? Is there some Common Core Math going on here or am I having a senior moment? A little help?
While we’re on the subject, because we learned this from the BLS, have all the people responsible for this disaster at the Census Bureau been fired yet?
Perhaps it would have been better if the author comparing Republicans’ 38% votes against 18% of seats instead of putting the 82% of Democrats seats.
I get it. But isn’t it unconstitutional when the correct amount of representatives are not apportioned? It seems that is the heart of the issue and would end gerrymandering.
