You may have heard all the buzz about "Alligator Alcatraz" in Florida, but that's so last month. The newest, hippest detention facility for illegal aliens is now the "Speedway Slammer," as announced by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
As reported by Newsweek, the new partnership between DHS and the state of Indiana will provide the Miami Correctional Facility as another option for housing illegal alien criminals.
Noem said the Miami Correctional Facility in the Hoosier State's Bunker Hill is poised to expand capacity by 1,000 beds and house 'the worst of the worst.'
The announcement came just a month after the ICE facility known as 'Alligator Alcatraz' launched in Florida.
This has one wondering what other fun names other ICE detention facilities around the country may be in store. "Houston Hossegow"? "Columbus Clink"? "Peoria Pen"?
The "Speedway Slammer" will become the latest — but likely not the last — state facility to lend its services (and storage space for criminals) to the federal government.
The planned addition of Speedway Slammer highlights a national trend toward expanding state-run centers, as the federal government seeks to double its detention capacity amid ongoing legal, ethical, and humanitarian controversies surrounding such sites.
Noem has called Florida's Alligator Alcatraz a model for similar centers nationwide, saying that five states are in 'ongoing conversations' with DHS to develop related sites.
Of course, while "Alligator Alcatraz" features the risk of escapees being eaten by giant swamp-dwelling reptiles, the "Speedway Slammer" promises to threaten criminals who make a run for it with being hit by speeding race cars.

This is on the terrain of the former Virgil Grissom Airforce base.
Not too far from Chicago, the illegal headquarters in Midwest.
Lots of real estate, facilities ready, full size, underused airport.
I think they can squeeze in a lot more than 1000 illegals.

Rats put them up in swanky hotels and they do so much damage the buildings get condemned then more cronyism is handed out to fix the mess and as every Rat project goes, it’s never done and ten times over budget.

Since the base closed some 30 years ago, they had problems with redeveloping the facilities.
Huge airport, many barracks, lots of real estate, mostly underused.
Friendly, patriotic population.
Perfect fit for the Midwest deportation hub.

Cutesy name but it is nowhere near Speedway Indiana or the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
We lived near the Indianapolis Speedway in the early ‘60s.
This facility is on the old Bunker Hill AFB (later renamed Grissum AFB).
It is quite a way north of Indianapolis between Kokomo and Peru Indiana.
I know this is changing the subject, but how’s Obama’s Presidential Library coming along?
Open one in Memphis and call it Murdered in Memphis.

It’s still active as an Air Reserve base with KC135 tankers. It’s a perfect place to stage flights directly from the slammer to wherever we want to send them.
