When Texas Democrats fled to Illinois a few days ago in an effort to stop the state legislature from moving forward with redistricting efforts, they traveled there by private plane. How did they afford such a thing? Beto O’Rourke’s PAC apparently paid for it.

Beta O’Rourke
Baba O’Riley (only the opposite of cool)
That is one of the stupidest moves I ever heard of.
Why aren't they charged with accepting a bribe to withhold their vote?Someone paid for their private jet. Someone paid for their hotel costs.
Texas House Democrats are guilty of accepting a bribe to withhold their vote under the Texas Constitution, and should have their House seats vacated.
According to the Texas State Constitution:
Article 16 Section 41:While the seats are vacant, a new quorum can be reached with the sitting House. That's when they can take the vote on election reform.Sec. 41. BRIBERY AND SOLICITATION OR ACCEPTANCE OF BRIBES. Any person who shall, directly or indirectly, offer, give, or promise, any money or thing of value, testimonial, privilege or personal advantage, to any executive or judicial officer or member of the Legislature to influence him in the performance of any of his public or official duties, shall be guilty of bribery, and be punished in such manner as shall be provided by law. And any member of the Legislature or executive or judicial officer who shall solicit, demand or receive, or consent to receive, directly or indirectly, for himself, or for another, from any company, corporation or person, any money, appointment, employment, testimonial, reward, thing of value or employment, or of personal advantage or promise thereof, for his vote or official influence, or for withholding the same, or with any understanding, expressed or implied, that his vote or official action shall be in any way influenced thereby, or who shall solicit, demand and receive any such money or other advantage matter or thing aforesaid for another, as the consideration of his vote or official influence, in consideration of the payment or promise of such money, advantage, matter or thing to another, shall be held guilty of bribery, within the meaning of the Constitution, and shall incur the disabilities provided for said offenses, with a forfeiture of the office they may hold, and such other additional punishment as is or shall be provided by law.
The Texas Constitution is there for all to see. The question now is whether the Republicans have the nerve to act like Democrats and enforce their own Constitution to kick the fleeing Democrats out of the House that they vacated.
Governor Abbott needs to tell the Democrats that they must pay their own expenses related to fleeing the state or he will charge them with accepting a bribe in exchange for withholding their vote.

This was news a couple days ago. I believe the governor warned them.
BTTT
Yesterday someone said that pols going to Illinois to protest gerrymandering is like going to Wisconsin to protest cheese.
It’s not just about the plane.
My bet is these seditionists aren’t hiding out in a no-tell motel.
Who’s footing the bill for keeping the deserters in the style to which they’ve become accustomed...?
Hysterical Hochul vowing to flout law to redraw voting map
Gerrymandering is okay when Deep State does it.
BTW...
If IL and NYS are so true blue...
THEN WHY DOES DEEP STATE HAVE TO STEAL OUR BLEEPING ELECTIONS?!
teenage waste land (I was there for a while)
“”O’Rourke bankrolled their flight to DC in 2021,too,to the tune of $600,000.
I posted this back in 2021:””
So, basically... nothing is going to happen to them this time, either... despite all of the empty threats. Ergo, ‘why’ they’re pulling this crap over and over again. They know that they are, as “special” Democrats, above the law. Disturbing, to say the very least.
O’Rourke, the breakfast taco wannabe needs his butt kicked.
Investigate Beto
Bribery? Or misuse of campaign funds? It might be difficult to argue that the legislators only left Austin because Beto’s PAC paid them to, but it could be fairly easy to argue that they did not go to Illinois as part of an election campaign, so they were misappropriating campaign funds for their personal enrichment.
If I were a corporate executive, I could hold a “retreat” on a tropical paradise, claim it was for a business purpose, and pay for them to fly out to greet me, and that would be OK, because it would be my own money (or my corporation’s). They’d only need to argue that they learned something relevant to promoting their state’s employment or taxation or something and it’d be hard to prove otherwise.
But a PAC acknowledges its intent to fund a campaign, not to promote the state’s business interests. That makes it easier to give to the campaign, but harder to directly enrich the candidate.
I’m not an expert on politics specifically in Texas, so I could be wrong about the timeline, but IIRC, Texas was formerly governed by RINOs. The Speaker was officially a Republican but he was speaker because he had Democrats’ support; the populist wing of the GOP tried to oust him but he won the Speakers’ race because the Democrats voted for him and the RINOs wouldn’t vote for his opposition.
The RINO speaker wasn’t so RINO as to directly oppose redistricting efforts, but I wonder if he was RINO enough not to fail to punish the people whose support he needed to remain speaker.
Exactly.
Piss bucket boy married to a wealthy woman hides behind her skirt.
Why we continue to call him by a Hispanic nickname is ridiculous. I prefer D-bag O’Rourke.

“Piss bucket boy married to a wealthy woman hides behind her skirt.”
Allegedly, of course.
