Democrats' Sudden Freakout Over Gerrymandering Is Starting to Make Sense...
Town Hall ^ | 5 aug 2025 | Matt Vespa

Texas Democrats have fled the state. They don’t want to give the state legislature a quorum to pass a congressional map that favors Republicans. So, they decided to seek refuge in Illinois, a gerrymandered state in the country. The irony is almost as bad as the MLB moving the All-Star game out of Atlanta in 2021 over Georgia’s voter integrity laws. The game was held in Colorado that year, a state with voter ID laws.

Gerrymandering did not begin under Donald Trump, which seems to ooze from all the whining and shouting from Democrats about the Texas map. The good news is that this isn’t going to become a thing like Wendy Davis’ abortion filibuster. No one cares about this, and the messaging has already cooked Democrats, as even the legacy media thinks they fled. These communication breakdowns happen when you lack a plan, a clear message, or a leader.

As a Jersey native, I lived under the yoke of gerrymandering—look at some of these districts. And Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy even tossed a redistricting threat aimed at Republicans, as if that’s shocking. My man, you can say that. It has been done elsewhere. Both parties do it. What am I missing here, but it's application in the Garden State...

Thank you very much and God bless you.

I'm torn here. Would love to see her district taken from under her. But OTOH, it's good for us if she's front and center for the Dems.

They are seeing that they are about to be going on low Voteage. Their illegal alien voter base is being deported and their gerrymandered district are about to be taken out. They are scared to death they are going to have the votes to steal 2026 and 2028. I sure wish I was a little younger. I’d love to be around when their Civil War shooting starts.

As I am in San Antonio, this issue is “local” to me. When the local news shows the two different sets of district maps on TV, the current maps are way more gerrymandered than the suggested new maps.

The squealing and caterwauling is directly proportional to the scope of the communists’ gerrymandering for the past 80 years, while the feckless, impotent GOP sat quietly and sucked its collective thumbs...

I think you are confused. The modern media has redefined the term gerrymandering to mean anything favorable to Republicans. The shape of the districts on the map, whether they follow municipal or county borders in a natural way or whether they are even contiguous is irrelevant

Anyone who knows Texas history knows why the quorum breaking Democrats end up losing these battles. Just read my tagline and it will tell you all you need to know. Texans don't run, they don't surrender, they're patriots.

I set foot in Texas over 49 years ago, when I reported for active duty at Fort Bliss. I've considered myself a naturalized Texan since that day.

Sorry to mention it but a number of well meaning people here said when AOC won at first and then neglected her district’s needs and ignored it due to her national news camera addiction that they thought AOC will humiliatingly lose her seat. Said she was stupid and her prominent front teeth and bulging wild eyes would turn off voters net time.
No such luck. She’s on her way to higher political glories and attracted another Socialist/Communist to raise arms in crowds beside her.

Crockett is 44 and could be VP or President. On every news show “See what Jasmine Crockett had to say about that....”

Born in the US, as AOC. Not Mamdani.

I know the history of gerrymandering and what I see on the maps. I could give a sh*t what the media thinks.
