A man attending a recent Major League Soccer game claimed his choice of attire resulted in him being "asked to leave" the sporting event, according to a video posted on social media.
The man, who identified himself in the video as Michael Weitzel, was seen wearing a red "Make America Great Again" hat at Energizer Park, St. Louis City SC's home stadium.
"I am Michael Weitzel and I have been asked to leave because of the Donald Trump hat," he states in the video during an exchange with security personnel and law enforcement officers.
A member of the venue's security team responded by saying "they're non-political here… they don't want any kind of political" messaging.
Weitzel responded by pointing toward a section of fans holding flags and suggesting the items were inherently political. But, the security staff quickly clarified by saying, "Those were pre-approved."
Rules at Energizer Park stated that political banners were not allowed in the stadium. It doesn't mention anything about hats.

A lot of DemonRATS have moved into the end-stage terminal mode of TDS. It’s almost over for them and that’s a good thing.
What’s a MAGA supporter doing at a soccer game?
Its fine to have a policy of not wearing clothing with political logos. I’d prefer that policy. But then enforce it for everyone. Absolutely no advocacy on any issue.
Not all MAGA supporters like or do the same things for fun and recreation. Many of our public schools have been including soccer as an activity choice for at least the last 30 years. No need to buy a lot of special equipment.
My thought exactly. GMTA. I’ve never been to a fag “foosball” game.
Being ‘non-political’ by being ‘political’...........Typical liberal logic..........or illogic...................
Sure.
In fairness ... this was an MLS game in the U.S. This guy was wearing a cap that basically says, “Deport the fan base.” /s
American professional sports are brain numbingly commercialized.
The reason why you don’t see soccer matches on TV here in America is because there are no commercial breaks. I find soccer to be one of the best sports to watch. Sure, there isn’t a goal every 5 minutes, but once you bother to learn them game, shots on goal are very exciting.
They changed the timing rules in baseball to “shorten the game” a couple years ago. It actually accomplished that, and it did speed up in-inning play, but it also made the between inning breaks even longer.
I can’t watch professional sports anymore. Even college football, which was a nice refuge away from overly commercialized pro-sports several decades ago has gone south. I don’t like going to the events in person because the you are standing or sitting around for ages while no one is playing, unless I’m in a loge with a group of people to socialize with, but in that case, it’s the people that make the event tolerable, not the event itself.
‘soccer’, at least, has genuine continuous game play.
You can wear that hat to a polling place.
If any member of LE participated in depriving that man of his civil rights, I hope they are charged using Section 242 of Title 18.
It’s popular globally because it is incredibly inexpensive to play at the lowest levels.
Apparently leftist banners are approved.
Double standard.
Ahhh, you get it! Good for you!
People who hate soccer don’t understand it, because they don’t want to even try.
They don’t understand that the changes on offense and defense happens continuously throughout the game. It’s a very fluid game.
Like you, I enjoy watching soccer. I wish I had the stamina to play it. You have to be in pretty great shape. No fatties in this sport.
Nailed it!
Rush Limbaugh tried to stop the spread of soccer at our public schools because it is such a dangerous sport. So he started Keep Our Own Kids Safe, a grassroots group, to take on the soccer establishment and Big Soccer, companies like Nike and Addidas, that get rich by promoting soccer and putting our young people at risk of serious injury.
Rush considered the sport of Soccer to be dangerous?
Hmm. Every sport has the potential for danger, I suppose.
Every baseball season, I hear about somebody being smacked in the head by a fouled pitch or a missed catch.
All activities have a certain level of calculated risk.
Some level of risk is required to make it exciting.
I'm a USC Trojans fan, and that is one of my biggest pet peeves about today's college football. The most hated man in the stadium is the "TV man," who wears a dark suit, When he walks out onto the field, play has to stop while tV stations run commercials. This adds up to at least a half-hour during games.
TV timeouts, weekday games, 7:45 PM kickoffs, which mean that you have to walk back to your car through the streets of LA at midnight, and digital-only payments for food and drink make it unlikely that I will attend any games this fall.
“Its fine to have a policy of not wearing clothing with political logos. I’d prefer that policy.”
I’m not sure about that. It does make sense when the game is played in a cow pasture owned by an individual who is entitled to set the rules for entry onto the property.
It is something else when people are in a public square; you expect to see respect for constitutional rights. In this case, was the soccer field privately owned or were tax dollars supporting the event in some way? Was tax funded law enforcement there, or just private security?
Now, about profanity - that should be barred in all public spaces. March people out if they can’t act like ladies and gentlemen.
Keep Our Own Kids Safe.
