Are you aware of these almost total news blackouts?

In Florida, where I live, there were reports from Communist China saying that, for weeks on end, the entire population were forcibly locked in their homes. Anyone outside his home on unauthorized business was arrested. What some of our neighbors did not know is that the exact same thing was occurring in some American states. It was on the news, but some media downplayed it, and if people in the free states did not watch other media, they might not know the extent of what really happened. People were literally confined to their homes. Anyone outside his home on unauthorized business was arrested. Could this be true?

This, after all, is the United States. Such things cannot happen here. They can’t.

Years ago, but well within memory, when a president of the United States was committing adulterous sex acts in the Oval Office with an aide, it was salaciously reported. For two weeks, however, the New York Times found that the story was not part of “all the news that’s fit to print” and printed not a word of it, until its silence became widely ridiculed. Imagine if every news outlet in the nation refused to report on such scandals, self-censoring, simply on the basis of political bias.

A president of the United States recently brokered a peace deal between two nuclear-armed nations that were openly engaging in acts of war, with fears that it would escalate beyond control. Once the peace deal was signed, the reports all but disappeared. Surprisingly few Americans are aware that it even happened. Again, political bias, in the form of “anti-Trumpism,” is involved.

The First Amendment has become a problem, in my opinion.

The media is largely monolithic. They lie about anything they want. They hide anything they don’t like. The media is a propaganda arm of the Democrat party, which is really the Deep State party.

Goebbels is in charge, and he is protected by the First Amendment. This isn’t what the Founders intended.

The media has been doing that crap all of my life, but there is something new here - the Internet. At least for now, people with open minds are able to find the stories that the media has blacked out, be it the horrific racially-motivated crimes in our cities, or the truth about the situation in Ukraine (despite the best efforts of the Zeepers). Hopefully, we can hold-back the government from again having control, or we’ll wind up like the populace in Europe, a bunch of Useful Idiots being led to their slaughter.

What I cannot understand is how Fox News is sued for billions for “defamation” when the monolithic news outlets do much worse on a nightly basis.

Is it in how they legally craft the defamation that they are protected? Is it the biased judicial courts that give no credence to conservatives but bend over backwards to acquiesce lefties?

The First Amendment is very important. The weaponization, abuse, and strategic ignoring of the First Amendment is the problem, in my opinion.

“Goebbels is in charge, and he is protected by the First Amendment. This isn’t what the Founders intended.”

It’s more the interpretation of the First Amendment by the courts. No one should be stopped from publish ‘uncomfortable’ information about the government, but if they lie, the victims should have a way to hold them accountable, that’s the weakness.

People in the news industry should not be able to donate to pollical candidates. It could be surmised that they were forced to do so. Most news organs are well above 95 per cent Democrats. Republicans or conservatives have no future in the news industry.

If we don’t get indictments of the big players , at least 1/3 of the public will never know what happened and another 1/3 will soon forget what happened.
Unlike Watergate which was a 3rd rate burglary but shines in the leftist annals as an example of journalistic righteousness; the Russian collusion hoax will go down as a footnote in the dustbin of history.

American Thinker is just a blog site. Very few of these writers are serious reporters.

They get away with it because they simply do not report the news they don’t want people to know about. They are also free to not report things. There are no laws that require them to report everything.

My neighbor has antenna TV, no internet. I talk about all the things going on and she gets a blank look. She hears none of it on the alphabet channels and local news she watches.

She does hear how “all bad things” are on account of Trump if they are in the slightest bit negative.

Ironically, I cite the same case in a totally different topic thread within an hour:

Remember the Awan Bros scandal? Most do not and the OP echoes the reason...

Thank Barack Obama and his congress for allowing the media to propagandize Americans.

Exactly—if the administration wants to drive the narrative they need to stop talking and start arresting big name players with SWAT teams in the middle of the night.

Then they can hold the press conference announcing what they have done.

Failure to do that is just gaslighting and should be ignored.

Oh, stop. India and Pakistan have given each other love taps of war for decades. They didn’t need Trump to keep them from going too far.

With AI and programmed algorithms, it’s only going to get worse. Google and Meta are doing it now.
