Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been moved from a Florida prison to a new minimum-security facility in Texas, authorities have confirmed.
The move comes as Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, has pressed the Supreme Court to overturn her conviction while also seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump.
Earlier in July, Maxwell held two meetings with the Deputy US Attorney General, the details of which have not been made public.
Maxwell has been at the centre of controversy surrounding the Trump administration's handling of the Epstein files, and the reasons for her transfer from the Florida prison are unclear.
While speculation has been rife that Trump may pardon Maxwell, the White House has previously said "no leniency is being given or discussed".
The BBC has contacted the White House for comment on Maxwell's move to Texas.
"We can confirm Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas," the BOP said in a statement on Friday.

That was likely a bargaining chip to get her to talk. Talk in exchange for better facilities.
As Holmes used to say, ‘Something’s afoot.”
does she get a private jet ride?
Prison? That’s deceptive. It’s a luxury resort.
Better facilities? She was living in a resort in Florida with daily massages and Pilates. She was living a better life than 99.5% of us.
It does sound nice.
**Overview**: FPC Bryan is a minimum-security federal prison for female inmates, operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Located at 1100 Ursuline Avenue, Bryan, Texas, about 95 miles northwest of Houston, it houses approximately 600–800 inmates, primarily for non-violent and white-collar crimes. Established in 1989, the facility emphasizes rehabilitation through work and education programs.
**Facilities and Amenities**:
- **Housing**: Inmates live in dormitory-style accommodations with two-person bunk beds or four-to-eight-person cubicles. Each inmate has an individual locker for personal property, with locks available for purchase at the commissary.
- **Dining**: Meals are served in a dining hall with a standard BOP menu including items like chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, tacos, and macaroni. Inmates have one hour for each meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
- **Commissary**: A commissary allows inmates to purchase snacks, beverages, clothing, hygiene products, and medical devices. Funds are managed through a bank-type account, with deposits sent to a processing center in Des Moines, Iowa.
- **Medical Services**: Full-time medical staff is available 24/7. Routine care requires a sick call form, and specialized care is provided at nearby Bryan Medical Center or St. Joseph’s Regional Hospital.
- **Recreational Facilities**: Includes a gym, sports field, and areas for organized and unorganized activities like football, table tennis, and intramural sports. Leisure activities also include music programs and social/cultural events.
- **Libraries**: Offers a leisure library with magazines, newspapers, fiction, nonfiction, and reference books, plus a bookmobile and interlibrary lending. The TRULINCS Electronic Law Library provides access to legal materials, with copy machines and electronic typewriters available.[]
- **Religious Services**: Facilities include worship areas, prayer rooms, and a religious library. Services are provided for Christian, Jewish, and Muslim inmates, with a Catholic chaplain, Jewish Rabbi, and Muslim Imam. Volunteers support other faiths, and religious items and dietary accommodations are allowed.
- **Work and Education Programs**: Inmates are required to participate in work assignments (e.g., kitchen, carpentry, HVAC, clerical, or UNICOR call center and catalog distribution) or educational courses. Programs include GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), post-secondary education through community colleges, parenting classes, and the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) for early release eligibility. Incentives like prizes and graduation ceremonies are offered.
**Visitation and Communication**:
- Visiting hours are typically on weekends and federal holidays, with visitors requiring prior approval and identification. Rules include limited physical contact and strict contraband policies.
- Inmates can make collect calls or use pre-paid phone accounts via Global Tel Link (GTL) - ConnectNetwork from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with call durations up to 30 minutes (reduced to 10 during peak times). Video calls are also available.
**Security and Daily Life**:
- The facility has a low staff-to-inmate ratio and limited or no perimeter fencing, typical of federal prison camps. Discipline is strict, with roll calls five times daily and rules against infractions like untidy cells or sleeping past the 6:00 AM wake-up.
- Daily routines include work from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, recreation after lunch, and structured meal times.[]
**Note**: Some sources, like, incorrectly state FPC Bryan houses male inmates. It is exclusively a female facility.
She won’t be suffering Texas.
The Cankled One is rubbing her hands with glee...
I'm going to look at the prison where she was housed so I may return with a different take.
Not sure why she wants to be in Texas. Maybe family?
RE: Better surroundings than maximum security prisons....
When Martha Stewart was railroaded into prison (for far less that Pelosi and the other scoundrels running free) David Letterman made a list of jokes.
Said Stewart’s experience in throwing silverware at her servants in fits of anger could come in handy during a prison riot.
And “There’s nothing better than freshly baked butterscotch chip cookies after a morning lice check.”
Quid pro quo or other.
Note: Railroaded by James Comey...
My question is why Texas?
The dirty rat.
One incriminating phrase used against her was casually saying “It’s nice to know people who know about investments.” Taken to mean illegal inside trades——which is not what she meant.
But Pelosi’s hubby apparently has pillow talk that makes them both rich or he hears her talking in her sleep and jots it down. Which no one really believes.
I don’t know why she chose Texas, but she may have requested better accommodations in exchange for her testimony and that’s what was available.
"Where are all the "perp-walks" we were promised"? some Freepers continue to yell, and jump on every (supposed) mis-step by the DOJ.
But we operate in the real world where humans make mistakes but careful planning mitigates them.
Trump has only been back for six months - there will be justice done.
