Dog-killing perp’s freedom is fresh, ugly proof that no-bail is pure insanity
New York Post ^ | Aug. 1, 2025

Thanks to New York’s bail law, even the most cartoonishly villainous crimes don’t get you thrown behind bars. The latest: Monday’s arrest of Isaiah Gurley, 29, on a laundry list of charges after he was allegedly caught on video dragging a dog into the street in Queens and setting it afire.

Gurley confessed to cops that he had kicked the poor pooch, which he was watching for a friend, to death before burning its body. To add insult to injury, he allegedly shoplifted the oil he used to torch the hound.

Brutalizing any living creature so cruelly should guarantee reasonably high bail — an amount that recognizes that a perp willing to torture an animal in such a heinous and sadistic fashion is a threat to the general public. Instead, Gurley got to walk free without putting up a dime, since none of his charges are bail-eligible under the 2019 “reforms.”

He did that to his friend’s dog that was left in his care?

If a “friend” did that to one of my animals, as soon as I caught up to him I’d be going to jail.

This isn’t the judges’ fault. The democrat NY legislature passed the no-bail law.

If a judge can counterman something that Trump initiated, then these liberal judges can do the same. Just saying.

Sad how it takes an animal cruelty to make someone realize these people are bad.

Judges should be judged every year and be subject to automatic and immediate job termination if any one of their decisions is not in absolute compliance with applicable statutes.

That’s different and you know it. /s

The no-bail legislation was written and passed by democrats. Now if a Republican legislature passed a bill the judge disagrees with, like say the bill defunding planned parenthood, the judges would act right away.

Heard that many serial arsonists and murderers begin young by torturing animals.

Should revisit the research . . . And the Ted Bundy files. . .

The "Race Card" is another name for the "Get Out of Jail Free Card".

I remember.

Only an amoral psychopath would be cheering such cruelty to a precious, innocent animal.

If a subhuman did the same to my dog, I would be in prison for a long time.
