Battery Tech Advancing…Just Not Fast Enough

Yep. I’m a big fan of the concept of EV’s. It’s just that, just like over a hundred years ago, the technology is not there to give ICE a run for its money.

And let us be honest: When (not if) battery tech becomes “ready for prime time”, it won’t impact just EV’s. Home solar, Home hydro, Home wind will become a viable energy option.

Imagine even super efficient downspout “turbines” supplying power to homes and buildings via super efficient, inexpensive large capacity batteries.

Water wheels used to power entire small “factories”.

It is a solution, but not the only one. Another is to abandon expensive batteries for vehicles.

Not sure about tunnels, but I've read some ferry companies have banned all EVs while other have banned them with visible signs of damage. If you get in a fender bender on Vancouver Island, you are likely going to have big problems getting the car off the Island.

I always thought battery enhancements were the silver lining of the “green” putsch. I imagined those green tyrants trying to control our movement and standard of living might be hoisted by their own petard if a battery breakthrough allowed everyone to become “off grid.”
