Coca-Cola said on Tuesday it plans to launch a beverage for the U.S. market that use cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup.
The announcement, which came as the company reported second-quarter earnings, follows a social media post by President Trump last week claiming that he had persuaded Coca-Cola to use real cane sugar in its U.S. cola.
Coke said the new product will use cane sugar produced in the U.S. and will expand its product range. "This addition is designed to complement the company's strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences," the company said in a statement Tuesday.

See 8 oz. bottles of cane sugar coke from Mexico in the supermarket at $1.69 per bottle.
How much more will coke charge for cane sugar?
I’ve been paying extra for those Mexican Cokes for years now. They’re readily available, but too costly.
Now we won’t have to import so much of it and perhaps it will be less expensive.
This will be yuge for Coca-Cola, if they don’t go stupid on the price.
I’ve avoided it because of Montezuma’s revenge. I’ll buy an american version though to see why it’s so hyped.
New Old New Coke?...................
Of course everything in moderation. Anyway, it’s an odd topic for Trump to involve himself in (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
“CokeCane”?
That sounds like the real, original Coke Classic. Before I knew about the switch from cane sugar to high-fructose corn syrup, I always wondered why sodas tasted better when I was a kid.
HEB sells three sodas with their name on them. One with can sugar. One with HFCS. The third with reduced cane sugar (20 cals/12 oz) plus artificial sweetener. The HFCS versions are sold in plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The other two made with cane sugar are in aluminum cans only (the full cane sugar version used to be sold in glass bottles prior to COVID).
*500ml
I have an EASY solution.
Just mix it with enough Myers Rum and you are all set!
The more RUM, the less sugar, right?
OH yea, Rum(alcohol)is also a complex sugar/carb.
I usually buy a six pack of Mexican Coke in the bottles to keep in the pantry. It is right next to the Birch Beer and Ginger Beer. These are not typically for drinking straight.
They are also not for daily consumption.
I read some years ago that the body recognizes cane sugar but not high fructose corn syrup. One coke with cane sugar and you’ve had enough, high fructose corn syrup leaves you wanting more. My husband drinks the Mexican can sugar cokes but one bottle (12 oz) takes him a couple of days to finish.
This article doesn’t say much, is the new product a new coke, is it a way to have a different price for a different line?
Rum and Coca Cola. That and pinball machines almost got me thrown out of college. Then I had a little talk with the dean, and I got my mind right.
All’s well that ends well.
Maybe they will start putting COCAINE in it again.
That might increase sales!
They should re-label it, “Old Coke,” compared to the marketing disaster back in 1985 with, “New Coke.”
Pure sugar cane Coke will sell at a premium for the simple reading due to tariffs and like sugar in the United States sells at multiples of the international price. The reason Coke switched to an alternate be to pure sugar cane was the alternative is much cheaper
IMHO it's a good topic for Trump. In the past the govt decided to tell soda makers to ditch can sugar in place of corn syrup. Thus it's appropriate for govt (Trump) to say the can sugar limits are now lifted.
IIRC, decades ago the govt concluded that cane sugar increases heart disease, thus told soda makers to limit how many of their drinks have can sugar. And a few years ago someone reexamined the old study data and determined that cane sugar did not substantially increase heart disease, at least not more than corn syrup. But until now the govt has been slow to release their old can sugar reduction on soda. I don't know if it's because the "experts" hate admitting that they are wrong, or if Big Corn lobbyists paid them.
