Trump administration officially rejects pandemic-related WHO rules

(The Center Square) – One day before the deadline, the U.S. government has issued a refusal of new international health regulations that dramatically expand the World Health Organization’s international powers.

The WHO’s 2024 amendments to International Health Regulations – adopted by the organization’s highest decision-making body, the World Health Assembly – were set to become binding if not rejected by Saturday.

The revisions would have granted the WHO the power to order global lockdowns, travel restrictions, and any other measures deemed necessary to address “potential public health risks.”

The State department along with U.S. Health and Human Services issued the Friday rejection, arguing that the amendments would give the WHO “undue influence on our domestic health responses.”

“Terminology throughout the amendments to the 2024 International Health Regulations is vague and broad, risking WHO-coordinated international responses that focus on political issues like solidarity, rather than rapid and effective actions,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

“Our Agencies have been and will continue to be clear: we will put Americans first in all our actions and we will not tolerate international policies that infringe on Americans’ speech, privacy, or personal liberties,” he (SecofState Rubio) added.

Good, who the heck wants the WHO dictating pandemic response here in America?

Another great reason that Trump won!

Yet another topic where I enthusiastically say, “I voted for this!” Kudos to Trump and Sec. Rubio.

Some of the best performers in Trump’s administration have been pleasant surprises.

The WHO regulations were essentially a treaty which SHOULD have been subject to Senate ratification—not fiat adopted by E.O.

The US can’t eliminate our constitutional rights nor allow a foreign body to do so. The WHO can KMA.

Article VI states that treaties made under the authority of the United States are supreme law anything in the Constitution notwithstanding.

Treaties are the sneaky method the one world socialists could use to take away American rights.

It’s good that someone’s minding the store. But we should give WHO a preemptive upraised middle digit and tell them they don’t bind the US unless we approve a treaty by constitutional means.

Come on now. WHO officials would have made excellent target practice. But then again, nobody shot the police enforcing lockdowns so the WHO officials would probably be fine.
