US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has threatened to publicly declare that Israel no longer welcomes Christian groups to Israel over what he said was Jerusalem’s failure to approve tourist visas for evangelical missions.
The threat was issued in a letter that Huckabee sent on Wednesday to Interior Minister Moshe Arbel, which was leaked to Hebrew media on Thursday. Arbel pushed back on the allegations in a response letter that was obtained by The Times of Israel.
“It would be very unfortunate if our embassy were forced to publicly announce throughout the United States that the State of Israel does not welcome Christian organizations and their representatives, and instead engages in harassment and negative treatment of them. We are also obligated to warn Christians in America that their generous donations are being met with hostility, and that tourists should reconsider their travels,” the US envoy wrote, according to the Belaaz Jewish news site.
Huckabee sent copies of his letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.
Given Huckabee’s longstanding support for Israel and close ties with the current government in particular, the rhetoric in his letter represented a shockingly quick deterioration.

Got me wondering about how many Messianic Jews live in Israel. 15k adults.

“Every now and again a story reaches the media about a self-identified Jew whose application for immigration to Israel, or aliya, has been denied on the basis that he or she is a Messianic Jew.”
...
“Both in Israel and across the Jewish world, there is an almost blanket rejection of Messianic Jews, or Jews who believe in Jesus. They are ineligible to make aliya, because while they consider themselves to be Jews, is it not accepted that a Jew can believe in Jesus.
“Therefore, they are excluded from the Law of Return as people who have voluntarily converted out of Judaism. Some, such as Floer, were also baptized as babies, another reason cited by the Population and Immigration Bureau as grounds for rejection.”

This one is fun. Remember the mystic rabbi who proclaimed Jesus was/is the Messiah on a note to be read a year after his death? In the article it mentions the prophecy in Joel when people have visions. CBN has written about Muslims having visions of Jesus. There are also Arab Christians in Israel.

Here is an issue. Anti-Jewish Christians. I was wondering about Armageddon and in this article it is addressed.

Bibi needs to handle this ASAP, like yesterday.
If Israel can legitimately be prevailed upon to cease being antagonistic to such Christian efforts directed toward individuals who are ethnically or religiously Jewish, our ambassador should keep doing what he’s doing.
Now if we could somehow get local prelates of the One True Church to start doing the same...
Gotta start “somewhere.”
“The mask is coming off Israel. They never were our friend.”
People have friends, nations have allies. Israel is focused on its survival as a nation, and they are “allied” with the US over common interests. The US is “allied” with Israel as they provide a semblance of stability in a region where there is little, and they are good sources of intel (if they choose to divulge such). The unspoken part of this arrangement is the massive amounts of money flowing and the pilfering of it.
“They’re killing Chrostians.” Are you referring to the human shields your Hamas buddies hid behind in Gaza? Got hit by an errant shell in a building next door to Hamas HQ?
Got any more details?
No you’ve proven yourself a troll, Mohammed.
Do you believe Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza?
Now you’ve proven yourself a troll, Mohammed.
Does the US govt know?
I didnt think so.
I think people forget that Israel is not a monolith — that a multitude of allegiances, points of view, political fault lines exist there too (not to mention the diversity within Judaism itself.) It’s patronizing and ignorant to suggest otherwise, to project one’s own biases and expectations, and slap them onto the country, and expect them to behave like some sycophantic child we spoil and dote over.
Israel is the most vaccinated country for Covid (not saying that’s bad but just acknowledging) — what may surprise some of you: ‘gender affirming’ measures like switching biological sex on your passport are loose, and in some cases medical measures to that end are publicly funded (look it up), abortion laws are also loose as well (especially relative to the rest of the Middle East) and became even more-so after Roe was overturned here in the US , etc…
No civil marriages of any kind — even contracts between ‘heterosexual, monogamous’ couples— are performed in Israel. Because marriage is seen solely as a religious institution. While gay marriages cannot be either legally nor religiously performed, Israel recognizes marriage licenses and ‘civil unions’ of both gay and straight couples established in other countries. Go figure.
Damn...... did I allow a troll to steal my heart so many years ago?
We keep hearing the mantra that Israel is the only democracy in the middle-east and supposedly espoused similar rights to our own. Israel is a "Jewish" state and nothing like the U.S. Therefore it is not a true democracy or Republic as we understand them. Israel was created for Jews. Let's not pretend that it's a pluralistic govt or society like ours.
Awwwwwww........
Thanks for mentioning Messianic Jews. Their numbers are increasing, a positive trend.
From its inception Israel has been under assault from both external and internal forces. If Israel is not approving tourist visas for “evangelical missions” it is entirely within their right to do so.
There’s a developing group of anti-Israel partisans out there trying to create a rift between Christians and Jews. They focus on an extremist Israeli minority and unintended war damage. Hope Huckabee doesn’t join them.
There were a great many “Christian” jews (or those who accepted him as their savior, they weren’t called “christians” at that point i don’t think) when Christ was crucified. It,was just the radicals that wanted him dead.
Exzctly- a great many godless imposter religions call themselves “evangelicals” but who do NOT preach the word of god but preach hatred instead. I suspect that those are the ones that Israel is denying entrance to. They are smart enough to recognize fake religions filled with hate when they see them.
That’s always been the case. Israel is opposed to evangelism but they love the Christian tourist money
Israel is rightly being cslled our here
Israel welcomes Christian’s just fine. It is Messoanic Jews that it disrespects. It is to Israel’s shame that the Messanic Jews of Ethopia are not allowed to emigrate
If your mother is Jewish you are banned from Im.igrating. Gentile Christians need to be quiet hete. A few isolated incidents does not match the discrimination Messianic Jews face im Israel
