WASHINGTON (AP) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials will be given access to the personal data of the nation’s 79 million Medicaid enrollees, including home addresses and ethnicities, to track down immigrants who may not be living legally in the United States, according to an agreement obtained by The Associated Press.
The information will give ICE officials the ability to find “the location of aliens” across the country, says the agreement signed Monday between the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Department of Homeland Security. The agreement has not been announced publicly.
The extraordinary disclosure of millions of such personal health data to deportation officials is the latest escalation in the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, which has repeatedly tested legal boundaries in its effort to arrest 3,000 people daily.
Lawmakers and some CMS officials have challenged the legality of deportation officials’ access to some states’ Medicaid enrollee data. It’s a move, first reported by the AP last month, that Health and Human Services officials said was aimed at rooting out people enrolled in the program improperly.
But the latest data-sharing agreement makes clear what ICE officials intend to do with the health data.
ICE will use the CMS data to allow ICE to receive identity and location information on aliens identified by ICE,” the agreement says.
Such disclosures, even if not acted upon, could cause widespread alarm among people seeking emergency medical help for themselves or their children. Other efforts to crack down on illegal immigration have made schools, churches, courthouses and other everyday places feel perilous to immigrants and even U.S. citizens who fear getting caught up in a raid.

Wait a minute. How does one enroll in Medicare without a Socialist Security Number? Obviously identity theft is just another of their non-criminal crimes.
Sounds as if AP it attempting to turn those who are here illegally and leeching off of our medical system into victims.

If I have to read one more post about illegals don’t get any govt assistance.. whaaaaa. What about all the free housing in hotels. The instructions handed out on how to apply for govt assistance. Or mortgage assistance . Or money for having babies. Or mayors offering money for being inconvenienced by ICE.

The hard truth is that we spend billions upon billions of dollars in caring for people who should never have set foot on our soil. They also make money here, then send it home b the billions. Curbing birthright citizenship will also stop the blatant abuse.

On the other hand, the coordinator at the local senior center, which also administers a food pantry, has told me that people who come for food will sometimes ask for assistance because they need to rearrange all the stuff in their trunk because they have hit so many free food distribution places that day, there is no more room.

but they have an incentive when it comes to benefits
sounds good to me. if people are regularly getting tax payer money they should be listed and made sure proper, not fraud payments.

Medicaid is medical welfare, and "socialized medicine".
Illegals are getting free health care and are bankrupting the system. Hard to believe but your tax dollars are paying for ozempic for non-citizens. Many of these illegals are overweight and have diabetes. They get ozempic for free and citizens have to pay inflated drug prices because of it.

When I had to have emergency surgery in Texas the room was full of squatty brown people who didn’t speak Spanish or English. They had sniffles or just anything not serious because it was all free for them. There is a story that some illegal has been in a room for a heart condition that is costing a million a month to keep her alive. I have zero sympathy for them anymore. Maybe if they were grateful and appreciated it but look at how they treat this country. Burn the cities and wave their home flags on burned out cars. Ship them ALL out.

As long as they use it in the capacity of their mission, that is locating and removing illegal aliens, ICE should have access to ALL Federal Data Systems. Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, IRS, Social Security, etc. ALL. Why wouldn’t they? Removing an illegal aliens from the various welfare entitlement programs is just a bonus.

I see no reason why they should not have access to those systems. Hunt those people down and get ‘em out of our country tout suite!
