Fauci Hit with Criminal Referral after Republicans Finally Move to Take Action

Dr. Antony Fauci has been hit with a criminal referral after Republican Senator Rand Paul decided that it was finally time to take action and push to prosecute him for perjury, hot on the heels of the revelation that his pardon from Biden was written with the infamous autopen.

For background, on July 14, 2025, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) announced that he was issuing a criminal referral against Dr. Anthony Fauci after it was revealed that Dr. Fauci’s pardon from former President Joe Biden was signed with the notorious autopen. Sen. Paul previously accused Dr. Fauci of lying to Congress about funding Chinese research on COVID-19.

Writing on X on July 14, Sen. Paul told his followers, “Today I will reissue my criminal referral of Anthony Fauci to Trump DOJ.” He added in a subsequent post, “Perjury is a crime. And Fauci must be held accountable.” Moreover, Sen. Paul reposted a statement from conservative commentator Nick Sortor, who wrote, “Fauci lied REPEATEDLY in front of Congress and shaking while doing so. He’s guilty of perjury. LOCK HIM UP.”

Importantly, Sen. Paul’s statements came shortly after the New York Times reported that Dr. Fauci’s pardon was signed with help from a Biden White House assistant via the autopen. However, President Biden reportedly pushed back against the Times’ narrative, saying, “I made every single one of those,” adding, “I understand why Trump would think that, because obviously, I guess, he doesn’t focus much. Anyway, so — yes, I made every decision.”

Furthermore, in a press release from the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Sen. Paul provided more details regarding his criminal referral against Dr. Fauci. The senator said, “In July 2023, I referred Dr. Anthony Fauci to the Department of Justice for lying under oath to Congress. His own emails directly contradicted his sworn testimony.”

Continuing, the senator called attention to the New York Times’ coverage of the autopen scandal, saying, “The New York Times reports Fauci was quietly pardoned by an autopen, operated by Biden’s staff. If the President didn’t authorize this pardon personally, then the Department has a duty to investigate and prosecute as it would any ordinary citizen. Fauci has been sainted by the extremist Left, but it doesn’t erase his lying before Congress.”

Moreover, the press release clarified that the New York Times had reported that there were “several last-minute pardons” issued under the Biden administration that were “executed not by President Biden himself, but by staff using an autopen.” However, the release clarified, “According to the report, Biden did not directly authorize all the clemency grants issued in his name, and some documents were altered by staff before being signed—without any documented presidential review or approval.”

In addition, the committee shared Sen. Paul’s renewed criminal referral, which focuses on accusations of perjury. Sen. Paul wrote the following to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi: “On January 19, 2025, Dr. Fauci was issued a full and unconditional pardon for any offenses that he may have committed or taken part in since 2014. Dr. Fauci was included among a group of individuals granted unprecedented preemptive pardons on President Joe Biden’s final day in office.”

Nope. The administration is desperately trying to change the Epstein focus using Fauci. (That will be the word from the media)

A referral is nothing. At this point there is a pile of them. Not one indictment. Too soon? Maybe.

Referral?! Grand Jury indictment would be a good idea!

“The administration is desperately trying to change the Epstein focus using Fauci. (That will be the word from the media)”

Epstein is the distraction, not Fauci. For Epstein, the DoJ should just state it’s an ongoing investigation and leave it at that.

Pardons do NOT require the signature of the President. The “certificates” were nothing more than acknowledgements.

A referral is just another way of dodging responsibility. Call Fauci in and have him testify he supposedly is pardoned so he cannot claim the 5th, once he refuses to answer hold him in contempt and lock him up or better yet hold him in contempt for perjury during previous congressional testimony.

This referral is useless, so yes... WAITING.

This could get interesting. Trump was prosecuted for, ahem, having classified documents that he orally declared unclassified. Fauci will claim he has a pardon that was orally approved. Joetato will have to testify in court.

Still waiting for the indictment for crimes against humanity.

But of course that would require identifying the ones giving the orders too.

A criminal referral is a formal notice recommending that a prosecutorial body investigate or prosecute an individual or entity for potential criminal conduct.

I think this may be the Trump administration's way of tackling the autopen pardon issue.

  1. DoJ indicts Fauci on perjury before Congress and force Fauci to assert the pardon.

  2. A District Court judge dismisses the indictment on the grounds of the pardon.

  3. DoJ appeals the dismissal on the grounds that the pardon was fraudulent.

  4. Circuit Court judge upholds the dismissal.

  5. DoJ appeals the dismissal to the Supreme Court.

The beauty of this plan is that, while the lawsuit will follow the usually pattern, Fauci's name will be dragged through the nightly media coverage for months with videos of his testimony and later revealed emails.

“ A referral is just another way of dodging responsibility.”

How exactly is Rand supposed to arrest Fauci himself? Just slap some cuffs on him on the floor of the Senate? And then do what with him?

I swear this place has been taken over by petulant 11 year old girls lately.

"Epstein is the distraction, not Fauci. For Epstein, "

I don't disagree. That said, why did Trump beat the Epstein drum during his campaign? A lot, too. Bonding is a lawyer. She knows how referral evidence is handled. Why would she do the exact opposite?

Nope. Trump made this hole. He needs to stop digging.

Still waiting for the indictment for crimes against humanity.

The POTUS can't grant pardons for that.

The World Criminal Court could indict him for mass murder.

But it will never happen because there would need to be a trial that would make Nuremberg look like a Sunday School class.

There would be heads of states on trial from a dozen or more countries.

The indictments would number in the hundreds if not thousands. And it would take a decade to present the prosecution's evidence.

So now everything, the administration does is to change the Epstein focus. Got it.

And by the way Rand Paul is not part of the administration.
