Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that GHISLANE MAXWELL was sentenced today in Manhattan federal court by United States Circuit Judge Alison J. Nathan to 240 months in prison for her role in a scheme to sexual exploit and abuse multiple minor girls with Jeffrey Epstein over the course of a decade.
MAXWELL was previously found guilty on December 29, 2021, following a one-month jury trial, of conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors to participate in illegal sex acts, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts, sex trafficking conspiracy, and sex trafficking of a minor.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: “Today’s sentence holds Ghislaine Maxwell accountable for perpetrating heinous crimes against children. This sentence sends a strong message that no one is above the law and it is never too late for justice. We again express our gratitude to Epstein and Maxwell’s victims for their courage in coming forward, in testifying at trial, and in sharing their stories as part of today’s sentencing.”
According to the allegations in the Indictment, court documents, and evidence presented at trial:
From at least 1994, up to and including in or about 2004, GHISLAINE MAXWELL assisted, facilitated, and participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse victims known to MAXWELL and Epstein to be under the age of 18. The victims were as young as 14 years old when they were groomed and abused by MAXWELL and Epstein, both of whom knew that their victims were in fact minors. As a part and in furtherance of their scheme to abuse minor victims, MAXWELL and Epstein enticed and caused minor victims to travel to Epstein’s residences in different states, which MAXWELL knew and intended would result in their grooming for and subjection to sexual abuse.
MAXWELL enticed and groomed minor girls to be abused in multiple ways. For example, MAXWELL attempted to befriend certain victims by asking them about their lives, their schools, and their families, and taking them to the movies or on shopping trips. MAXWELL also acclimated victims to Epstein’s conduct simply by being present for victim interactions with Epstein, which put victims at ease by providing the assurance and comfort of an adult woman who seemingly approved of Epstein’s behavior. Additionally, Epstein offered to help some victims by paying for travel and/or educational opportunities, and MAXWELL encouraged certain victims to accept Epstein’s assistance. As a result, victims were made to feel indebted and believed that MAXWELL and Epstein were trying to help them. MAXWELL also normalized and facilitated sexual abuse for a victim by discussing sexual topics, undressing in front of the victim, being present when the victim was undressed, and encouraging the victim to massage Epstein.
As MAXWELL and Epstein intended, these grooming behaviors left minor victims vulnerable and susceptible to sexual abuse by Epstein. MAXWELL was then present for certain sexual encounters between minor victims and Epstein, such as interactions where a minor victim was undressed, and ultimately was present for sex acts perpetrated by Epstein on minor victims. That abuse included sexualized massages during which a minor victim was fully or partially nude, as well as group sexualized massages of Epstein involving a minor victim where MAXWELL was present. In some instances, MAXWELL participated in the sexual abuse of minor victims.
Ultimately minor victims were subjected to sexual abuse that included, among other things, the touching of a victim’s breasts or genitals, placing a sex toy such as a vibrator on a victim’s genitals, directing a victim to touch Epstein while he masturbated, and directing a victim to touch Epstein’s genitals. MAXWELL and Epstein’s victims were groomed or abused at Epstein’s residences in New York, Florida, and New Mexico, as well as MAXWELL’s residence in London, England.
In the earlier phase of the conspiracy, from at least approximately 1994 through approximately 2001, MAXWELL and Epstein identified vulnerable girls, typically from single-mother households and difficult financial circumstances. This earlier phase required the defendant and Epstein to identify one girl at a time to target for grooming and abuse. In the later phase, from approximately 2001 until at least approximately 2004, MAXWELL and Epstein enticed and recruited, and caused to be enticed and recruited, minor girls to visit Epstein’s Palm Beach Residence to engage in sex acts with Epstein, after which Epstein, MAXWELL, or another employee of Epstein’s would give the victims hundreds of dollars in cash. MAXWELL and Epstein encouraged one or more of those victims to travel with Epstein with the intention that the victim engage in sex acts with Epstein. Moreover, and in order to maintain and increase his supply of victims, MAXWELL and Epstein also paid certain victims to recruit additional girls to be similarly abused by Epstein. In this way, MAXWELL and Epstein created a network of underage victims for Epstein to sexually exploit. * * *
In addition to the prison sentence, MAXWELL, 60, was sentenced to five years of supervised release and ordered to pay a $750,00 fine.
Mr. Williams praised the outstanding work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Good question!
That does make a lot of sense and could indeed be the situation.
Maybe you aren't convinced but you could certainly see the possibility that the Epstein operation could have been to gain kompromat on U.S. (and global) financial, scientific and political leaders to help Israel, don't you? You at least acknowledge that is a possibility, right?
You would have to be intentionally obtuse to think an intelligence agent inviting powerful men to his island where they ended up engaging in inappropriate behavior with young girls COULD NEVER be for the purpose of gaining blackmail. If that is what was going on, would you have a burning desire to have that exposed?
I certainly would.
And, this is total bullshitte since you cannot have a victim without a perpetrator. Not one is ever named.
Which is why I do not accept DJTrump’s position on this. He is embracing the PERCEPTION that he is covering up — precisely what the commie trash on the left will say.
And, they are right. This is the perception.
If he clings to this asinine position he has betrayed the country and MAGA.
No perp named? Ah, the names are Maxwell and Epstein.
Why the he** is she still in prison???
Acording to Trump, this whole Epstein bs was all a hoax.
What you describe would quite possibly be the dumbest blackmail operation in history, and by a guy who had no need to do it to be wildly successful. And I don't believe either he or Mossad could possibly be that stupid.
Blackmailers use their information for threatened exposure of wrongdoing by OTHER people. Someone has an illicit affair, or whatever. What they don't do is personally engage in massive illegal activity themselves, and then threaten to incriminate THEMSELF by exposing someone else who had a much smaller role. It's insane.
Just think of Epstein's blackmail pitch. "If you don't do what I say, I'm going to expose to the world that I run an underage girl trafficking operation where I personally abuse hundreds of girls, and you once came here and had sex with a 17 year old!"
I mean...seriously??
And think of who Epstein/Mossad used. Did they use professional swallows would lure men into sin for juicy photos, or even prostitutes who could be countered on for more discretion? No, they chose to use hundreds of ordinary, unvetted and underaged girls who were then returned back to the U.S. where they were free to tell anyone who would listen exactly what happened.
Which is exactly what happened. And very predictably so.
Epstein's operation was so stupidly thought out and amateurish that it reeks of just his own personal perversions. This wasn't something limited just to some covert "blackmail island". Long before his island, he was abusing underaged girls in his own personal residences in the U.S., and again in a way that led to investigations and reports about him from early on.
There was no blackmailing involved in that. Just him because a perv.
So no, I don't believe that Epstein was planning on blackmailing anyone (inevitably ruining his own life in the process), nor do I believe Mossad would have been involved in such a badly run operation that was exposed and wrecked in less than a decade.
Just doesn't make a lick of sense to me.
“How in the ever lovin he*l can she be sentenced to 20 years for trafficking when everyone involved in the investigation says there is no list and no one was trafficked?
My common sense thinking says something doesn’t add up..”
____________________________________________________________
Why would you think anyone involved in human trafficking would keep a written list? It’s just like any other crime where the fewer items of documentation of the crime is better for the criminals involved at all levels.
Indeed Jeffrey Epstein is the hot topic not the guy that raped 5 women priorities huh.
Primarily...
...that was exposed and wrecked in less than a decade
My understanding is that he was having these types of relationships with US elite since the 1990's.
So no, I don't believe that Epstein was planning on blackmailing anyone (inevitably ruining his own life in the process)
The first time he got busted, he got a sweetheart deal because he "belonged to intelligence". He had no reason to believe that what he was doing was going to lead to any serious repercussions.
I'm also curious how you think it would play out if Bill Gates or Bill Clinton decided to go against the wishes of Epstein's masters and videos of them having sex with an underage girl were leaked to the public? Do you think a viable defense would be, "Yeah, but this random financier who helped me, did way worse stuff..." ? I don't think that's how that would have gone down.
Also, who's to say they didn't use professionals? I would assume they did. Likely some of the perverts preferred pros and other perverts preferred "ordinary, unvetted underage girls" and those are the ones the we have all heard about. Epstein's close friend Jean Luc Bruenel (who's agency was financed by Epstein and who went into hiding after Epstein's arrest and ultimately killed himself) is proven to have fed his models into the sex trade. These girls probably were paid enough that they haven't gone to the press yet.
Lastly, I'm not sure where you were getting that he was "wildly successful". As far as I know he had one client who happened to be a billionaire, signed his house over to him, gave him Power of Attorney and who also happened to be in the MEGA group which was one of the most powerful Israeli lobbying organizations.
I don't think "but why were they so sloppy and obvious about it" is a good defense. It only appears that way in retrospect. Hindsight is always 20/20.
i’m sorry to say but I think this was the last straw... the last disappointment I’m going to suffer in my attention to politics... we’ve seen nothing but Breaking Bombshells the last 6 months and who has gone/going to prison for ANYTHING!!???
fk it... (throws in the towel and walks away...)
I do not trust the media, period, regardless what this article says.
Two months ago, the list “existed” and Bondi had it on her desk.
A month ago, the list “didn’t exist”
Now, a media article says she “only” trafficked to Epstein.
Epstein I’m sure then passed them along (Lolita Island) to his important friends.
I’m sure Griswell knew full well she was the beginning of the supply chain to a host of important and influential people, democrats and republicans included. That she “only” trafficked to Epstein is splitting hairs.
The truth of this will never come out because people will die to protect the secret.
If media articles were to be believed, then
I believe Oswald acted alone (I don’t)
I believe TWA 800 had a center fuel tank explode (I don’t)
I believe Epstein killed himself (I don’t)
I believe the clot shot was safe and effective (It wasn’t)
and on and on.
If I don’t believe any of the above, why should I believe this article? I think we’re being gaslit into an alternate reality.
That said, you have your opinion and that’s fine. I also have my opinion and that too, is fine.
I don’t wish to argue with anyone, but my mind won’t be changed.
You really expect anybody to believe all those girls were trafficked for Epstein alone? C'mon.
Solomon did it...😁 Maybe that is why Epstein looked so old.
No, I think Epstein shared his collection with visitors.
So much back and forth over the word “list.”
= = =
List can mean tilt.
Like Epstein did; he tilted and fell over.
And like all the details and facts are now listing, too.
He bought the island in 1998, was investigated by the Palm Beach police in 2005, and it was at that point that most of the powerful people who had previously associated with him stopped. He was then indicted by the FBI in 2007. He also was sued by over 100 "Jane Does" in 2008. So whatever "cover" he would have had would have been blown by that point, and he was on everyone's radar screen.
The first time he got busted, he got a sweetheart deal because he "belonged to intelligence". He had no reason to believe that what he was doing was going to lead to any serious repercussions.
You state as fact something that only Acosta has ever said. And on top of that, the "sweetheart" deal including losing most of his contacts, spending more than a year in prison, and also paying out more than $50M in payments to women he had abused.
And obviously, even Acosta's sweetheart deal was transient at best because the investigations/prosecutions never really stopped. Check out his wikipedia page and see more than 20 lawsuits prosecutions against him from 2008 on. He was immune from "serious repercussions".
So you think that this information would have somehow leaked about one guy, but nobody would have asked "where did this happen", how did you meet these girls, etc."??? Of course, that all comes out. That would have had to have been part of the prosecution case. If any one of his "guests" was busted, Epstein was busted. It was unavoidable as a part of any investigation.
Also, who's to say they didn't use professionals? I would assume they did.
Using some professionals wouldn't change the fact that he also used 100+ amateurs, many of whom talked to anyone who would listen. That was the stupid move, and that's how/why the whole thing - inevitably - collapsed. Some girls talked, which was as predictable as the sun rising.
I don't think "but why were they so sloppy and obvious about it" is a good defense. It only appears that way in retrospect. Hindsight is always 20/20.
It was obvious when he was first busted way back in 2005. Again, doing this with so many different young girls, taking no steps to ensure they didn't talk, etc., was just dumb. The fact that he had so many different lawsuits filed by so many different women validates the point.
That's a blackmail op.
But the proof is in the pudding…His arrest didn’t derail his close relationships with powerful people. He still associated with Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Leon Black, Alan Dershowitz, Ehud Barak, etc….AFTER his conviction in 2008.
You make some compelling points but where there is smoke, there is fire.
And to your last point regarding him joining in the depravity….maybe he was just a pervert who couldn’t help himself?
You have raised some solid points on the Epstein matter—and convinced me that we need to see every file and every speck of evidence to see what the true facts are.
My initial view is that it was a Mossad run blackmail operation—but that could be wrong.
Only with Open Kimono can we find out one way or the other.
