Fuel to the engines of the Air India plane involved in a deadly crash was cut off moments after take-off, a preliminary investigation report has found.
In recovered cockpit voice recordings, the report said one of the pilots can be heard asking "why did you cut off?" - to which the other pilot replied he "did not do so".
The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed less than a minute after taking off on 12 June from Ahmedabad airport in western India, killing 260 people, most of them passengers. One British national miraculously survived the crash.
The investigation led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is expected to produce a more detailed report in 12 months...

Previous to this disaster... This aircraft had an excellent accident record.
I would have thought this might have been part of the Takeoff Config Warning System checks
Guess not?
Maybe that only has to do with flaps, etc. (flight surfaces only?)
Never put the fuel cut off switch right next to the built-in samosa maker.
As the video explains, switches are virtually impossible to operate by accident. Were switched to OFF just after the plane rotated and lifted off, because the computer was in “Air” mode, meaning the wheels were off the ground (this is controlled by sensors in the landing gear).
Another video explained that, after the switches were moved to OFF, one pilot asked the other “Why did you do that?”, to which he replied “I didn’t”.
Switches were moved back to ON and engines began to relight, but it was too late.
Wait until the final report(s). We can be damn sure that the Indian government....which is in charge of the investigation...will somehow try to blame Boeing. If they do the US report will refute that if doing so fits with the facts.
“one pilot asked the other ‘Why did you do that?’, to which he replied ‘I didn’t’.”
Was there another person in the cockpit?
Could the switches have been placed in an intermediate position that could change to ‘off’?
Is there any other switching system that works similarly in the type of airplane?
Was either pilot certified on another type of plane that would require a similar switch to ‘off’ movement during a takeoff?
Did the pilots get enough rest before the flight?
Yes, this looks like a deliberate suicide/murder.
IMO, the copilot couldn’t have flipped those switches simultaneously so after he turned one off, the pilot should have caught him doing it. My money is on a remote control of the switches and a terror test for much bigger things.
There is no need for fuel control levers to be part of a Takeoff Warning System as the engines won’t run with fuel controls off. They couldn’t even taxi with them off, much less takeoff.
IIRC both boxes were recovered. If that’s true...and if they weren’t undamaged...they should be able to get a good idea of what did,and didn’t,happen from wheels up to the end.
The report states that the First Officer was the pilot flying. It also states that both fuel switches were moved simultaneously to the off position almost immediately after the aircraft rotated up into flight, and that the aircraft remained on course. This would physically require the first officer to have both hands on the controls.
The fuel switches are located toward the rear of the center console, outside the forward field of vision. Therefore it is unlikely that the first officer moved the switches.
These non-Native American Indians are the same people we are now allowing to run our Congress and weaponized “judiciary” mafia.
They are designed with an interlock that requires the top cap of the switch to be lifted before it can be turned to the 'Off' position. This prevents the switch from changing position by being inadvertently bumped.
“ Could the switches have been placed in an intermediate position that could change to ‘off’?”
The fuel cutoffs are not like a SPST switch. These are spring loaded and must be pulled out and rotated by hand to the off position.
Suicide by pilot for 260 innocent souls.
