We’re told that passing President Trump’s $9.4 billion rescission package – the one that would eliminate much of the funding for NPR and PBS (they can hold telethons) and some modest cuts in foreign aid – is a tough sell in the Senate. Apparently, the Cookie Monster desperately needs tax dollars.’
Fortunately, Trump is tightening the screws ahead of the July 18 deadline.
We will keep you posted.
Politics = The Art of Bait & Switch
aka
The Art of the Steal
As long as Congress doesn’t touch MY GOODIES (SS and Medicare), if they can cut everything else, that’s fine by me.
Burn it all down.
Start over.
Congress is full of con artists. Wouldn’t trust a one to follow through on anything. demoncRATS just run over the Repubs without the Repubs showing one ounce of backbone. Cong’l critters talk the talk but won’t walk the walk when push comes to shove.
Congress gets reelected by handing out loot. In the process they also get very rich. Making a third party won’t change that. The only thing that has any chance of working is a Balanced Budget Amendment.
Politicians get into power by promising money. Money (budget) thus obtained is, almost by definition, not for the good of the people. It is for the good of the person or entity who “supported” (gave money to) the politician in order to get said money. If whatever that money purchased does some good for the people, it’s an accident.
Here’s how it works. I put something into a bill intended to help widows, orphans and kittens that will fund a big, profitable bridge linking two uninhabited islands that don’t even have roads. Now you’d think that would get laughed out of the bill, but it’s nestled next to other expensive, useless projects and grants. Everyone looks at everyone else, winks and sign the bill.
And that is how politics works.
Thanks President Trump. CONgre$$?
If they cut the budget it’s less kickbacks.
Lobbyists nod.
