President Donald Trump disclosed he and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley clashed over leaving equipment in Afghanistan as the U.S. withdrew troops in 2021.
Trump, who historically has pushed to recover billions of dollars' worth of equipment U.S. troops left in Afghanistan, said that Milley argued at the time it was cheaper to leave the equipment there.
"That's when I knew he was an idiot," Trump said during a Cabinet meeting Tuesday. "Didn't take long to figure that one out. But they left all that equipment. But they left their dignity behind. It was the most embarrassing moment, in my opinion, in the history of our country. Not that we got out. We should have not been there, but that we got out the way we got out with great embarrassment and death."

Totally agree that lots of bad advisors around Trump let to bad appointments in his first term. As tough as it’s been, probably a blessing that Biden was selected and gave Trump a chance to see who should be trusted and regroup to line up a great team - and get more MAGA Representatives and Senators so his agenda has a chance of making it.

in the 70s in the army, we were told that leaving the enemy valuable equipment was a no no and were supplied with white phosphorus grenades to make vehicles and aircraft unusable including munitions and paperwork.
we need to have an investigation of who in the military and in government agencies continued to follow the directions of Obama after he left office. I suspect a lot of the issues of Trumps first term as president was that Obama was using assets within the government to stifle President Trump
