House Overwhelmingly Shuts Down Impeachment Effort, Over 120 Democrats Join To Block Measure

The House of Representatives shut down an impeachment effort against President Trump brought by Rep. Al Green (D-TX).

The House tabled the measure in a 344-79 vote.

128 Democrats joined with the GOP to block the effort.

Fox News reports:

Liberals who joined Republicans include all three members of House Democratic leadership – House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, R-N.Y., House Minority Whip Katherine Clark, D-Mass., and House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., voted to table the measure.

Green, who has threatened to impeach Trump before, said his latest bid is aimed at the president’s strikes on Iran from over the weekend.

“I did not come to Congress to be a bystander while a president abuses power and devolves American democracy into authoritarianism with himself as an authoritarian president,” Green said in a statement Tuesday morning.

“President Trump’s unauthorized bombing of Iran constitutes a de facto declaration of war. No president has the right to drag this nation into war without the authorization of the people’s representatives.”

Other progressives, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., called for Trump’s impeachment over the strikes in Iran.

President Trump blasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Truth Social for calling for his impeachment.

From the Washington Examiner:

Many Democrats, including those in leadership, have brushed off their caucus members’ attempts for an impeachment inquiry as a waste of time that will go nowhere. House Democrats have twice impeached Trump during his first term, only for him to be acquitted by the Senate.

Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) also planned for a vote on his impeachment resolution, but pulled the vote after pressure from leadership and once it became clear he would not have his caucus’s support.

Green’s resolution, which he offered Tuesday, called for an impeachment inquiry due to Trump’s authorization of the bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran.

“Donald J. Trump has abused the powers of the presidency in a manner contrary to his trust as president [and] has become a threat to American democracy,” Green said in a floor speech prior to the vote, accusing Trump of bypassing the Constitution by neglecting to seek congressional approval.

The White House earlier Tuesday criticized Green’s fourth impeachment attempt.

“President Trump was able to quickly accomplish what no other President has been able to achieve – thanks to his ‘peace through strength’ leadership, Iran’s nuclear program has been obliterated and a ceasefire has been agreed to,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said. “Eliminating the prospect of nuclear war is a non-partisan and unifying accomplishment that everyone should celebrate as a historic moment for the United States, the Middle East, and the entire world.”

We are seeing the end of Orange Man Bad. The Democrat Party will have to scrounge around for a new policy.

Al Green is one of the most idiotic people in congress. He’s a simple-minded fool. Seems to be prerequisites for most on the Left in both chambers of congress - be a tool, be anti-American, be loyal to the Democrat Party.

They just don’t want to see Trump’s approval rating go even higher.

Good thing.

First the two sides of the GOP thrash and grapple with each other, pulling out hair, twisting the crotches and biting into ears.

Now, finally, the Dems split apart with old timers Pelosi and Schumer versus anti-American Commies AOC, Crockett, Tlaib, Omar and Black Caucus including Al Green, with throwback moderates taking a stand to not impeach Trump.

To me, it’s part of the 2025 version of the first Civil War’s “brother against brother.”

Lots more to come.
