Russian President Vladimir Putin has revived a controversial narrative, claiming that theoretically "all of Ukraine is ours." He also sparked more immediate concerns with comments about seizing Ukraine's city of Sumy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that Russians and Ukrainians are "one people" and that, in that sense, "all of Ukraine is ours."
The assertion underscores Moscow's continued underlying rejection of Ukrainian sovereignty and raises renewed alarm over Russia's territorial ambitions.
What did Putin say about Ukraine's sovereignty?
Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday, Putin issued a series of provocative remarks, notably stating: "We have a saying… where the foot of a Russian soldier steps, that is ours."
He was responding to a question about Russia's objectives for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, launched in February 2022.

In related news, King Charles III says that theoretically the first 13 US states still belong to Great Britain.
Rule Britannia! 🇬🇧
(I guess)
Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” and that, in that sense, “all of Ukraine is ours.”
Then all of Russia is Ukrainian ???
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
But wait... the Putin fanbois insist hei is just liberating the poor Russian-speaking majority in Eastern Ukraine... right?
Putin wants a colonial empire but the Russian army is not up to it. Due to poor training & even shittier leadership.
It’ll be interesting to see which take the Putin fanboys will take on this:
1) “that was taken out of context and is not what he really meant, he only wants the ‘Russian’ parts of Ukraine, not all of it”,
2) “that IS what he meant, because it’s true,”
3) ignore Putin’s words and blame the Western press for reporting it, or
4) “Squirrel!”
“King Charles III says” If we are going to go there we should call him by his American Aboriginal name, Charlie Three Sticks!
If they really are one country why couldn’t it also be said that all of Russia belongs to the Ukraine? Taiwan existed before the CCP, why doesn’t all of China belong to Taiwan?
Historicaly the Rus population started their territory in Kiev. Stalin separated/created Ukraine for a census. Honestly, who cares. Can we take care of the US?
I don’t know why you would say such a thing.
Oh, wait. Yeah, you’re right. 🙂
Yes, that’s him (what an idiot). From a powwow back in 1977.
“Historicaly the Rus population started their territory in Kiev. “
Not to be confused with Russia.
Stalin separated/created Ukraine for a census.
LOL!
Stalin starved 4 million Ukranians.
We’re Americans, damn it, its our God given right to ridicule Kings!
So you went with option 2, but your history is off. Although Ivan the Terrible renamed Muscovy as Russia, his state was did not originate from the Kievan Rus. Also, an independent Ukraine was declared in 1917, only to be conquered later by the Bolsheviks and absorbed into the USSR as a separate ethnic republic from the Russian Socialist Federal Republic.
If you say “over my dead body” your opponent still has two options.
The US didn’t originate in Washington either. What difference does it make?
If Putin really wanted peaceful relations with other nations, he would negotiate treaties and trade deals and keep them.
His words and actions since Invading Ukraine shows he wants a Second USSR.
