The records show Coney Barrett agreeing with liberal justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan 82% of the time during her 2nd term, up from 39% in her 1st

The court has enough women..
I would consider Barrett to have been a loser of a pick if she voted with the conservatives only 50% of the time. If she’s really siding with Sotomayor and Kagan 82% of the time now, she moves from a loser to a disaster.
I agree. We have to look at individual cases to judge her or any other judge for that matter.
But the consensus on Free Republic seems to be, that Amy Coney Barrett is a useless liberal.
I disagree with that consensus, but we hear it over and over on this site.
We’d be better off with no wimmin on the court. Its hard enough to get good guys on the court, the wimmin are even worse.
Strong evidence of a weak mind.
Thanks DoodleBob. This is the kind of response that was so very common of the FreeRepublic that I followed back in the early days in the mid 90’s and early 2000’s.
Sadly, this type of response to agenda driven articles has diminished greatly over time.
Laziness and ad hominem attacks have become most common.
She was a hideous mistake.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
Most women are and historically have been hideous mistakes when they’re in positions of authority regardless of how they got there or how long they’ve been there.
Excellent research thank you
And let’s see how many replies you got
2 ... including mine...
It’s still a great reply. Nothing wrong with being a voice crying out in the wilderness
“Amy Barrett is 100% pro-life.”
And I think that’s why she had so much support here on FR.
I’m sick of that being the single issue for both the right and the left. Abortion never EVER will be “fixed” until people have their hearts changed.
Concentrate on the First Amendment and keep religion free, and accessible to people who might be on the edge of making a murderous decision.
She was suggested by the sleazeball DeLeo.
“If she’s really siding with Sotomayor and Kagan 82% of the time now,”
Let’s go to the source document. Even if it was prepared for the New York Times.
Re: 82%. For the record, this percentage represents NINE/ ELEVEN CASES in the 2024 term, and more specifically…
Page 22: “ Table 14: Percentage of votes (in the majority or in dissent) with Kagan and Sotomayor in non-unanimous orally argued decisions (excluding per curiams), 2020-2024 terms (through June 12, 2025). Only cases in which
Kagan and Sotomayor agreed are included in the analysis.
In contrast…
Page 23: “Excluding 2024, Barrett’s agreement rate is, overall, noticeably higher with the Republican appointees than with Kagan and Sotomayor.”
Table 16: Pairwise percentage agreement (in the majority or in dissent) between Barrett and the current Republican appointees in non-unanimous orally argued decisions (excluding per curiams), 2020-2024 terms (through June 12, 2025).
It’s also important to keep ACB in context: she replaced the late Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg in the heat of the 2020 election. Her confirmation vote was 52-48, which included one Republican defection in the 48. After Gorsuch and the hotly-contested Kavanagh, Trump had to choose someone that would garner 50 R votes.
The RBG replacement is very noteworthy in term of Ideology:
Page 7:
2. Dramatic changes between predecessors and successors aren’t expected because of strategically-timed retirements (e.g., Breyer→Jackson).
3. But not so for two members of the current Court (see Table 3).
(a) The Thomas→Marshall transition is, not surprisingly, the most dramatic in modern history, from 18% conservative to 79%.
(b) Still, ACB-for-RBG isn’t far behind: a 38 percentage-point increase from 27% to 65% conservative—about twice the average absolute shift.
RBG is dead and we got an 3.284 swing in Martin-Quinn score with ACB. Yeah, she’s shown slippage. But the metrics remain way ahead of where we were.
“She’s saved more lives than most due to her abortion and now transgender youth prohibitions. We need more of her.”
So she is right on two issues and wrong about everything else even if her decisions will destroy our country? No!!! Hell no!!! Seriously, she stabbed us in the back too many times. What a freaking mistake. Trump’s biggest mistake.
Femalish thinking.
Non-compromised nominees get “Borked”. Other than Thomas, they are ALL suspect. I could maybe be convinced that Kavanaugh was also non-compromised.
(Thomas and Kavanaugh got “Borked” but somehow survived)
bkmk
I wasn't aware that U.S. Supreme Court Justices served "terms."
"Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution effectively grants life tenure to associate justices, and all other federal judges, which ends only when a justice dies, retires, resigns, or is impeached and convicted." - WikipediaRegards,
I said elsewhere, the nominating president should be able to invoke a lemon law against judicial appointments.
What is a dash woman?
Saving lives trumps all else. So what that trump doesn’t get every decision his way. He’s lucky they gifted him the no jail for president ruling.
I think what Amy needs is a good, hard...
