*** Rival factions of the MAGA movement are now openly feuding in an increasingly nasty civil war, and questioning whether the president will make what they regard as the right move in the Middle East.
Trump himself stunningly split with one of his own close advisers on Tuesday, dismissing Congressional testimony from Director of National Security Tulsi Gabbard.
In March, Gabbard stated that the intelligence community had assessed Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.
'The IC continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon, and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003,' Gabbard said ***
'I don't care what she said, I think they were very close to having one,' Trump said flatly when asked about Gabbard's statement
*** Journalist Tucker Carlson and former Trump senior advisor Steve Bannon hosted two separate podcasts on each other's shows on Monday, warning of the disastrous path to war in Iran.
They blamed the 'deep state' in the intelligence agencies and war hawk Republicans for swaying Trump to support Israel's military strikes on Iran.
And they warned the president faced the 'end of his presidency' if he got America embroiled into another lengthy war in the Middle East. *** 'I don't know what Tucker Carlson is saying, let him go get a television network and say it so the people listen,' Trump said. ***
'Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,' Trump wrote.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia sided with Carlson *** *** “Foreign wars/intervention/regime change put America last, kill innocent people, are making us broke, and will ultimately lead to our destruction,' she wrote.
'That’s not kooky. That’s what millions of Americans voted for. It’s what we believe is America First.'

America First.
There’s no “civil war.” Some pro-Trump isolationists are simply going to discover they have far less influence than they think.
nasty MAGA civil war erupts“
BS. It is called on honest difference of opinion.
The reality is that Trump’s base will shatter if he goes to war and the slimy Democrats will take power in 2026.
A number of America-Firsters wanted us to do nothing to assist Ukraine. I cannot imagine that they’re happier with our involvement in this either.*
* I don’t have to imagine. The list of anti-interventionists starts with Tucker Carlson and goes on and on.
Trump sure is the master of Distraction Whoa whoa whoa What is happening? Diversion. And division
People accustomed to lockstep obedience to the party line don’t understand honest disagreement.
Nope.
Tulsi...
I said it from day one, right here on FR during Tulsi’s confirmation hearings: she was never truly with Trump. Her track record, her words, her posture — it all pointed to a future betrayal. This wasn’t a surprise; it was a matter of time. I read the signs early, and now it’s playing out exactly as expected.
‘IC’ has Stung us for Decades now.
Deep State Spooks-—Pound Sand!
I think that Iran is on the ropes and President Trump is considering using “Rods from God” if the B52 bunker busters fail.
There was an interesting academic article posted here recently that discussed how on the Left, there is really very little diversity of opinion on issues, whereas on the right, there is quite a lot. Had an interesting diagram that was part of the article.
On the Left, any difference in a big damn deal, immediate cause for kicking you out of leadership. On the Right, it’s all part of healthy debate. As I tell people all the time, someone I agree with on 80% of the issues is *not* my 100% enemy because of that 20% disagreement.
The Daily Mail is having another wet dream.
Was the U.S. supposed to invade Israel to prevent them from the attack, and to protect Iran?
Well said. The Trump coalition is a coalition. Some FReepers disagree with me on illegal immigrants who work hard at honest jobs, support their family, go to church.
Many FReepers are not as pro-family as we would like.
There is no one faction of the Trump coalition that can dominate on every issue. Among other reasons is the simple fact that many in the Trump coalition are ambivalent. They are pro-Israel and want to protect the 700,000 Americans in Israel while also wanting to avoid foreign entanglements.
What is puzzling is that people like Tucker think that Trump is dead set on sending American troops into Iran.
Trump is dead set on stopping Iran, the “death to America crowd” from obtaining nuclear bombs because it is also working on developing ICBMs.
There is no contradiction between stopping Iran from obtaining a bomb and not having a war with Iran. Iran can’t even handle Israel, much less Israel and the United States together.
And no, other countries will not risk devestation to their own countries to join in the fight with Iran.
A nuclear armed Iran is just one of the curses left over from the Biden administration.
Tulsi Gabbard must be in the same boat with Bongino, thinking everything the IC writes up is honest.
I don’t think Tulsi has the CHOPS to do this job!!
“The IC continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon”
So they’re enriching uranium well beyond any peaceful purpose just to press people’s buttons, and to see what happens? That makes sense.
“The reality is that Trump’s base will shatter if he goes to war...”
Yep, yes sir, Heels Up was/will be the right choice after all.
The reality is political fringe nutbags and self interested entertainers like Carlson have never been and never will be America First.
