Israel is trying to beckon the United States to join their strikes against Iran directly. In the meantime, the United States is conducting, along with several other nations, defensive operations to defend Israel, which amounts to downing Iranian drones. Our assistance does paint a target on the backs of American forces in the region, which isn’t the first time.
Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq was targeted by three Iranian drones today (via Fox 5 San Diego):
Three drones were launched toward a base housing U.S. forces in Iraq following Israel’s strikes on Iran, a U.S. military official and a second U.S. official said Saturday.
Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
The drones were shot down, the officials said. No group claimed responsibility for the attack on Ain al-Asad air base in western Iraq.
A network of powerful Iran-backed militias in Iraq has remained mostly quiet amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict. In the past, the militias had periodically attacked U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for Washington’s support for Israel in its war against the Iran-allied Hamas militant group in Gaza.
We can expect more attacks of this nature to continue. However, Iran’s war-making capabilities have been severely curtailed, as the core of the nation’s political and military leadership has been killed in a series of devastating Israeli airstrikes that began last Thursday.

I think the United States is behind the scenes doing things but the face of this is absolutely all Israel. The United States absolutely cannot get sucked into this.

We want those uranium enrichment facilities knocked out and Israel does not have the firepower or delivery system to drop the bunker busters that might have the potential to breach the bunker buried deep in the mountainside. We do. The first missile fired at a US base in the region is the perfect excuse for payback to get the job done. That should be the extent of our offensive involvement

Israel needs regime change ASAP with replacement Persians opening all to inspection and suitable destruction as their price for peace. Suspect Trump and the isolationists within MAGA would be willing to assist in THAT process. Alas, if they knew their nuke dreams were over it would be a lot easier to get the fanatics to quit. A final Allahu Fubar charge would be their only hope for paradise.
Exactly. So far, Israel seems to be inflicting a lot of damage. Sure, a few missiles may have made it through their defenses, but overall, much of the Iranian leadership that would opposed a threat seems to have been killed.
I tend to agree in that assessment. Don’t get involved except as a last resort, and if we have to, only take the minimal action necessary.

Israel is receiving significant support from the US, probably in the form of image intelligence and signal intercepts. PDJT openly embraced doing it.
You get it on a very possible scenario. FReepers seem unaware and don’t care (neo-isolationists) that Israel does not have the largest size bunker busters. The ones that have a shot at taking out Iran’s underground centrifuges. This job falls on the USA. It is sink or swim time for Trump.
