The AR-15 is the most popular civilian rifle in America and is used by tens of millions of law-abiding Americans for lawful reasons.

The AR-15 is the most popular civilian rifle in America and is used by tens of millions of law-abiding Americans for lawful reasons..

Total bans on AR-15s are a flagrant violation of the Second Amendment.

Today, the Department of Justice filed an amicus brief telling the Seventh Circuit that Illinois’ law banning AR-15s is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.

...

Some states and federal courts have a bad habit of treating the Second Amendment like a second-class right, especially in AR-15 cases.

But to quote Justice Thomas:

“The overwhelming majority of citizens who own and use AR-style rifles do so for lawful purposes, including self-defense and target shooting. Under our precedents, that is all that is needed for citizens to have a right under the Second Amendment to keep such weapons.”

“It is difficult to see how” a court could conclude “that the most widely owned semiautomatic rifles are not ‘Arms’ protected by the Second Amendment.”

“Categorical bans on firearms that millions of Americans commonly own for lawful purposes” violate the Second Amendment.

...

Chief of Staff at the Department of Justice under the leadership of @AGPamBondi and @POTUS Trump

That is why the Democrats hate it & fantasize being able to put the owners in a modern day concentration camp.

^ progressing backwards is not leading.

But yes, the anglosphere has been quite active in quelling that pesky “individual rights” thing.

My daughter has one and knows how to use it. Now she lives in town instead of on 10 acres in the country with her big strong husband. He died and she’d like to sell it. No gun shop in town will sell it for her.

Her husband was the sheriff and she went to the range where all those men went. She was the best shot there. Don’t mess with Katy.

I have many and am just a shooter. I am now 77 years old and now giving away my weapons to sons and grandsons that are worthy. This gives me joy. Some are most ordinary weapons of worth and mostly relevant military weapons. I recently gave a very high dollar weapon to my step son, a Draganov Sniper Rifle. He had borrowed it frequently and I finally told him "when I am dead it is yours, take it now and enjoy it." This was my dead brothers weapon. It has no worth as it can not be bought. In reality it was worth about 10K. It is our family weapon. I have many weapons just because I enjoy them. I am not a threat to society. Oddly I never thought I would enjoy giving my weapons away. I am old and will retain a few necessary weapons for adequate home defense. The rest I am giving away to worthy individuals.

I bought 2 many years ago. I forget what I paid but I thought it was cheap enough. Very dependable.

My kids don’t want my guns. I have no idea what will happen to them on my passing. I guess it doesn’t matter.

I dislike ARs for a number of reasons and consider them overpriced, disposable tools, but I admit that the platform is uber-capable.

I remember the 1970s when gun magazines and writers hated the AR-15.
A MATTEL TOY! PLASTIC! INACCURATE! MOUSE GUN! UNLAWFUL FOR DEER!
At that time MEL TAPPAN wrote his book on SURVIVAL GUNS and began to write for GUNS AND AMMO magazine. Suddenly the gun buying public could not get enough .223 RIFLES! Importers filled the gap.
Then the DEMOCRATS cast their evil eyes onto a firearm they always said they would never ban and made a grab for them.

The Democrats have been screaming for gun registration and bans since 1962.
1962-Call for Handgun registration ONLY! Rifles will not be affected.
1963-Call for registration of All guns and a ban on 5 shot army surplus rifles!
1968-Got a ban on small foreign handguns and 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles.
1971 Call for Ban on small American handguns. “Rifles will not be affected!”
1975 Call for Ban on all handguns. “Rifles will not be affected!”
1981 Actress Lee Grant on ABC’s GMA yells...
“THE NRA IS A RIFLE ORGANIZATION! THEY SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR HANDGUNS AND THEY CAN KEEP THEIR RIFLES!”
1984 Call for ban on semi-auto rifles.
1994 Ten year “ban” on “a-s-s-ault rifles”.
2000 Call to ban single shot .50 cal rifles.

Rest assured if they get a ban on semi-auto rifles, they will be back for more, and more and more.

I told my kids to sell them at PUBLIC AUCTION along with my other goods. When people see guns for sale at an auction they loose all sense of control and often will pay more than the cost of a new firearm.

Seems like Olympic Arms was Colt’s only competition in the AR market, back in the ‘70s. They did some innovative stuff...lots of new calibers for the platform.
