Let’s talk about a day that California Governor Gavin Newsom would probably like to erase from memory. Tuesday was an absolute trainwreck for the Golden State’s fearless leader, marked by technical blunders, shameless begging, and a string of outright lies that would make even the most seasoned politician blush. If you thought Newsom’s leadership couldn’t sink any lower, buckle up, because this was a masterclass in humiliation.

Riots are tearing through the city over federal immigration enforcement, yet Newsom can’t even bring himself to condemn the violence. Instead, he’s pointing fingers at President Trump while dodging accountability for the mayhem on his watch. He thinks this is going to be his ticket to the Democratic nomination for president in 2028, and potentially the White House.

The real disaster unfolded when Newsom decided to play big shot with a televised address to bash Trump. Desperate for airtime, he stooped to groveling at the feet of Fox News’ Sean Hannity, practically begging for coverage. Hannity even aired the pathetic plea on live TV.

People say that all of this will end Newsome’s political career, but they do not understand his appeal. This is not the first or even the tenth time Newsome has displayed his incompetence, nor will it be anywhere near the last. Yet, he is still the governor of California and would be reelected should he want to be. Noting succeeds in the eyes of his supporters like failure, since it is never his fault, but the result of entrenched anti-progressive forces. He defines himself this way, making his failures a mark of honor in the imaginary struggle to achieve some DEI utopia.

Way back in ‘88 Clinton had a long boring speech at the DNC that was supposed to toroedo his career. It didn’t. In ‘76, Guy Van Der Jaagt’s speech wasthought tobe an opportunity to make a play for VP. He muffed it (but his name probably already doomed him. DOLE fits better on a bumper sticker.) Dems do better with semi-unknowns ( Clinton, Obama) than with war horses (Mrs Clinton, Kerry, Mondale). Biden cheated. Newsom, as a white male, would do best keeping a low profile, waiting for the DEI left to back a horse. South Carolina won’t back him, though. He would have to ace Iowa AND Newahampshire.
