Mexican President Threatens To ‘Mobilize’ Against Law That Could Help Cut Off Cash To Cartels
The Daily Wire ^ | June 9, 2025 | Spencer Lindquist

Mexico’s president is threatening to “mobilize” the country against a Republican proposal to tax remittances, which advocates say would choke off cash flow to Mexican drug cartels.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum raged against the proposal in a speech against the law, which imposes a tax on money sent out of the United States by foreign nationals. “If necessary, we’ll mobilize,” Sheinbaum said. “We don’t want taxes on remittances from our fellow countrymen. From the U.S. to Mexico.”

President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill” includes a 3.5 percent tax on remittances, a policy that experts told The Daily Wire is key to throttling the flow of cash into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels. Republican lawmakers are pushing for a tax on money flowing out of the United States to foreign countries just after the Mexican president said that she would “mobilize against it.”

The Mexican president’s statement drew the ire of Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO), who announced that he was introducing legislation to multiply the proposed 3.5 percent tax on remittances.

“The House’s Big Beautiful Bill addressed the urgent need for a remittance tax. But we can go further. I’m introducing legislation to quadruple the proposed remittance tax — from 3.5% to 15%,” Schmitt wrote on X. “America is not the world’s piggy bank. And we don’t take kindly to threats.”

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) also addressed Sheinbaum’s statement and came out in support of raising the tax on remittances.

The policy, immigration experts previously told The Daily Wire, would cut into cash that is funnelled from illegal aliens in America back to cartel members.

“Placing a fee on remittances is crucial because the more money that is smuggled back into Mexico, the stronger the cartels become,” said Ira Mehlman, the Media Director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

The remittance fee would also help America recuperate money that is effectively exported out of the American economy. “Many illegal aliens are working off-the-books, and therefore, no payroll taxes have been collected. Taxing the money as it leaves the country would be a way to recoup some of that revenue loss,” Mehlman noted. “Large-scale transfers of money to other countries have a negative impact on the American economy.”

Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) introduced his own remittance tax legislation in 2022 and remains supportive of the policy.

“The cash flow from illegal immigrants in the States to their cartel partners in Mexico, Venezuela, and other countries is massive,” Hern told The Daily Wire. “It’s a two-fold win: remittance fees will help slow down the flow of those dollars to the cartels and will also create a new revenue source we can use to build the wall and secure our border.”

That’s fine. A Mexican mobilization on American soil constitutes an invasion that can be met with deadly military force.

That solves the deportation/nationwide injunction problems we’ve been having.

STOPPING THE REMITTANCES ENTIRELY WOULD BE GREAT.

UNTIL THEN-—MAKE THE TAX 25% or MORE

I have personally seen the illegals lined up at a local Western Union location in a drug store-—Fri & Sat of same week-—sending their earning out of the country.

NOT ONLY ILLEGALLY EARNED-—NO TAXES-—NO PAYMENTS TO MEDICARE, ETC. THEY ALL KNOW WHERE THE LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOMS ARE, THO.

3.5% is too much accounting work for the result.

Sorta like “Looking for the fly shit in the black pepper”

Remittances from her “fellow countrymen?”

This is money these trespassers are earning inside the USA. She should insist her “fellow countrymen” return to Mexico and work there.

She is admitting Mexico is so mismanaged, its own citizens cannot earn a decent living inside Mexico.

President Trump should stop ALL remittances to Mexico. This would dampen the urge to invade our border from the South.

I wonder if what's really going on here is a declaration of war against the USA by the Mexican drug cartels and the Mexican Government, which they control, using
the President of Mexico, as a pawn, and the insurgents in the USA, as soldiers,

and using as weapons

Mexican nationalism,

Mexican resentment toward the USA for past transgressions, especially the annexation of Mexican territory by the USA in the 19th century and a desire to reclaim it,

the complicity, witting or unwitting, of the US Democrat Party and its supporters, including the so-called "journalists" of the news media and the feckless, misguided and easily brainwashed American "liberals"/"progressives", and

the Decadence of Western Civilization in America, manifest as the counter-culture movement of the 1960s and its 21st century successor, wokeism, which they perceive as a lethal weakness crippling American society, the American People, and the entire United States,

and if they perceive that the time to strike is now, when the USA, at least in their opinion, is at its weakest, before President Trump and the MAGA Republicans can re-establish US strength and ascendancy.

3.5% doesn’t exactly choke off cash flow.

How come the government, who is greediness exemplified, took so long to do this? It’s insane that billions of dollars can be wired out of the country.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Activates 700 Marines to Assist ICE Operations in Los Angeles During Riots

June 9, 2025 | Sundance

CONTEXT for Los Angeles Riots Approximately 12.3 million Mexicans live abroad, both legally and illegally, with 97% of them living and working in the United States, according to BBVA Research.  Last year Mexicans living abroad sent $64.75 billion back home in remittances, largely from Texas and California to states in central and western Mexico.

According to data recently released, in April of this year remittances back to Mexico dropped 12.1%.  The Mexico central bank said April saw 8.1% fewer transactions than a year earlier, that’s down to 12.4 million transactions. For Mexico this is a devastating outcome.

How dependent is the Mexican Govt on these remittances?  Remittances sent home by Mexicans working outside the country surpassed petroleum revenues in 2015. {link} Oil Revenue in 2015 was 23.4 billion; remittances were $24.8 billion.  Last year in 2024 remittances were $64.75 billion…. and in April of this year the remittances dropped by 12.1%.

If you don’t think there is a critical financial motive in this, think again.

CALIFORNIA – About 700 U.S. Marines were mobilized Monday to support the California National Guard to protect federal personnel and property in Los Angeles during protests there, officials said.

The mobilization of the Marines from their base in Twentynine Palms, California, is temporary, to give time for additional National Guard troops to arrive.

Earlier Monday, President Donald Trump said he would support arresting California Gov. Gavin Newsom for purportedly obstructing federal immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles.

Trump’s comment came shortly before Newsom and state Attorney General Rob Bonta said they would sue Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for deploying National Guard troops to deal with protests over those enforcement actions.

The suit will ask a judge to rule that Trump’s federalization of the California National Guard was unlawful and to set aside the president’s order.

[…] Meanwhile, federal prosecutors charged labor leader David Huerta with felony conspiracy to impede an officer. Huerta, president of SEUI California, was arrested on Friday during a protest in L.A.

He appeared Monday in federal court, a judge ordered him released on a $50,000 bond, and warned him to keep away from federal agents and federal operations. (more)

Anyone who was following politics in 2007 and 2008 knows exactly what role the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) played in supporting candidate Barack Obama.

As Obama and Hillary Clinton battled for control of the Democrat apparatus, Barack made a deal with SEIU President Andy Stern. If the purple orcs would activate -violently if needed- on Obama’s behalf, when he became President Obama would remove the healthcare liability from the union retirement by creating nationalized healthcare, Obamacare.

Andy Stern agreed to the deal, marshalled his orcs and that was the army the Chicago machine used to defeat the Clinton machine. It was a bloody battle, and in the aftermath the PUMAs were born (Public Unity My Ass). SEIU President Stern became the #1 White House visitor to see Obama in 2009 and 2010, and the rest as they say is history.

The Chicago machine behind Obama is deeply enmeshed with classic communist objectives. In descending level of ideological severity, you will note: SEIU, AFSCME, AFL-CIO and the UFCW. All of these labor organization are open borders activists, radical leftists with severe ideological leadership who know how to weaponize their membership to act as ‘shock troops’ within the U.S. political system.

That’s the background for the SEIU to align with La Raza and attack the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials on Los Angeles.

With Democrats out of power in DC all the foot soldiers have once again been activated to achieve political objectives.  ICE is the convenient target, but the larger objective is to create street level crisis similar to the BLM riots in 2020 and get back into power.  Violence is once again accepted in order to achieve their political goals.  The media runs cover for the violence, continually downplaying it – even as it gets worse.

These are the same communist foot soldiers behind Occupy Wall Street in 2012.  These are the same foot soldiers who attacked Donald Trump supporters in 2016 (San Jose).  These are the same foot soldiers behind the Minnesota riots in 2020. A mixture of Black Bloc radicals, Anarchists, ANTIFA, and radical race-based activist groups like BLM, La Raza and CAIR.

The organization and funding come from the labor unions and political activist groups atop them.

How does the government imagine it will detect and tax remittances?

Yeah, if it was 20 years ago you could just collect the tax on Western Union transfers to other countries, easy. But in an era where people are using peer-to-peer transfer protocols to send funds directly to their relatives back home? This will be impossible to track, and just speed the decline of the centralized money transmitter services.
