LA protests inch Elon Musk back to President Trump
CNN ^ | Mon June 9, 2025 | Hadas Gold

Last week, Elon Musk was calling for President Donald Trump’s impeachment. This week, Musk is back to praising the administration, softening his tone after the two powerful leaders’ very public breakup.

The whiplash came as protests erupted in Los Angeles over actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and immigration raids.

Over the weekend, Musk deleted some of his most incendiary X posts about the president, including the call for his impeachment and the allegation, without providing evidence, that Trump’s name appeared in documents related to the crimes of convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Musk appeared to wholeheartedly support the Trump administration’s stance on the situation in Los Angeles, adding American Flags to a post from Vice President JD Vance about how the “president will not tolerate rioting and violence.” Musk has long supported closed borders, stopping illegal immigration and deportations, in alignment with the Trump administration.

The tech billionaire posted a screenshot of a Truth Social post from Trump that said California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass “should apologize to the people of Los Angeles,” as clashes have broken out, cars have been set on fire and demonstrations intensify.

He also wrote “cool” to a video of Vance speaking in an interview, saying he thinks “if Elon chills out a little bit everything will be fine.”

He must be over his drug-induced stupor...for now anyway. The guy needs a handler just like Joe Biden.

Trump47 is holding his finger in the dyke, against anarchy and the abyss. Elon was just reminded of this.

Agreed on both points...

They are stronger as friends and a team against these things. They will mend fences by Father’s Day.
Make book on it.

They are two strong willed alpha males who had a difference of opinion that made its way into the news. They know working together will fix the country they both unabashedly love. And they have already produced results.

"Will fake Doc Jill do?"

No, that would probably push him over the edge again 🤪

I agree with you and disagree with Bannon. Elon’s space exploits far outweigh his eco-grifting. I like having Elon on our side.

Word I heard was he had some kind of scuffle with Scott Bessent. Probably argument about the BBB. I had heard that Musk bumped Bessent’s chest with his shoulder (intentionally) during a heated argument and Bessent gave Musk that black eye in return.

With Musk on his way out the door literally that day since his 130 days were up, Trump probably had to side with his Cabinet member - and also frown on physical violence. I am sure the arguments inside the WH can get pretty heated. Lots of egos, lots of angling for whatever... and then if Trump didn’t back Musk, Musk got into a hissy.

This story could be all BS but it makes some sense given the timing.

Wish there was a way to show support for Musk without dissing Prez Trump. Musk was under a huge amount of pressure I’m sure he wasn’t expecting.

President Trump and Elon Musk are having the time of their lives with this feud.

It's even more fun that the Donald Trump-Vince McMahon feud back in the WWF days.

And people have stopped burning Teslas

I heard the same thing. The fact is that Musk was there to perform a service, not to get into arguments, or physical confrontations over President Trump's Bills or policies, or criticize them in public, especially if he hadn't discussed his concerns with the President before he went public. He overstepped the line, and disrespected the President and the office he sits in. And even if Trump wasn't President, Musk should have had respect for an elder. That was drilled into us by our mother when we were young.

I'm sick and tired of hearing from some people here that Musk got Trump re-elected. Nothing could be further from the truth. President Trump got elected on July 13, 2024 at Butler, Pa. after being shot in the head. Musk joined the campaign after the assassination attempt...less than four months before Election Day. He served a purpose, and by his own admission, wasn't going to stay in that position for long. Some people are simply determined to give him far more credit for Trump being where he is today than he deserves.

"Musk was under a huge amount of pressure I’m sure he wasn’t expecting."

Not as much pressure as President Trump was in his first term, which he didn't expect, or the four years of law fare that followed. Musk needs to get over himself.

Musk has issues that Trump doesn’t.

Elon is a Sigma, Trump is an alpha, so there is inherent clash potential.

True, but I think Musk uses his condition as an excuse for doing some of the things he does, and people have allowed him to get away with it for far too long.

Agreed. So if I'm Trump and Musk wants to meet with me, I'll tell him that he'll have to meet with Susie Wiles instead.

"I'm busy."
