Kilmar Abrego Garcia, aka Maryland Man, has now been extradited to the United States, and is facing a variety of serious charges relating to the smuggling of illegal aliens.
And based on what one of his lawyers said—and didn't say—on Saturday's edition of MSNBC's The Weekend, things aren't looking too keen for Kilmar.
Interviewed by co-hosts Eugene Daniels and Jonathan Capehart, lawyer Benjamin Osorio:
Admitted that the car Abrego Garcia was driving when he was stopped for speeding by the Tennessee Highway Patrol was owned by a felon who had been convicted of smuggling illegal aliens into the US. [There were eight people in the car at the time. Abrego Garcia claimed they were construction workers he was transporting.]
Said: "We were never fighting for the character of this man." That echoed the statement by Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who flew to El Salvador to meet with Abrego Garcia, and who said: "This is not about the man, it's his constitutional rights." Not exactly the kind of character witnesses a criminal defendant would hope for!

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Go for it, Democrats: make Maryland Man your hero! Run on this in ‘26 and ‘28!
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Saving his Democrat ***, migrant worshipper Sen Van Hollen who flew to El Salvador to meet
Abrego Garcia now says: “This is not about the man, it’s his constitutional rights.”
Should have thought of that BEFORE embracing the illegal thug on broadcast tv.
Van Hollen embodies the kind of character witness a criminal illegal could only hope for.
BTTT
Has it ever been decided by the Supreme Court that non-citizens or illegals have the SAME RIGHTS as citizens?
Or has it been decided that they don’t?
If it hasn’t been decided then those nine black-robed Nazguls better get off their asses and DECIDE. It’s important.
There was never any contract between the US and them.
It makes no sense if you are caught at the border you can immediately be deported but if you make it into the interior suddenly you have equal rights with a citizen.
As my father aged, he developed a mental condition called “contrary responder.” If you said something was white, he’d angrily retort it was black. He was objectively wrong and if the discussion went very far you could see he was embarrassed by but would not abandon his response. I think this is what we’re seeing in the Democrats. There is no element of “law” or “constitutionality” these are pure Democrats but infesting the legal system. Their problem is they have this mental disease where no matter what Trump does, they instantly go to war against it. If Trump came out with an executive order extoling motherhood and apple pie they’d fly into a rage and start lawsuits to stop motherhood and apple pie.
The way I handled my father was to review everything I said so wherever appropriate he got to offer his opinion first. “What color’s that, dad?” My dad’s condition damaged his relationship with everyone, and he eventually ended up isolated. Trump doesn’t have the luxury of manipulating the black robes. On the good side, like my dad, the black robes are going to drive everyone away. Even other crazies don’t like being around a crazy.
I don’t get this:
ONCE YOU BREAK THE LAW...YOU HAVE NO DEFENSE...
SUCH BS, THIS IS SUCH A LOSING ARGUMENT FOR THE DEMONRATS,
I HOPE THEY CONTINUE WITH IT
From the article, along similar lines to your commment:
We can imagine that Republican ad makers are already busy at work, sketching out clips featuring Van Hollen and other Democrats sticking up for Abrego Garcia. Call it the 2028 variation on the devastating “they/them” ad on Kamala’s support for taxpayer-funded transgender surgery for illegal alien inmates!
Are the liberal media and the Dems sure that Abrego Garcia is the hill they want their electoral hopes to die on?
Essentially, they are.
Constitutional rights are for citizens.
exactly
Van whatever your f’n name is…let him stay at your place alone with your wife and daughters. That’ll show us
McGavin999.......It makes no sense:
<><>if you are caught at the border you can immediately be deported

Excellent observation.
Sorely lacking in civics education, we have failed to define and understand the relationship between universal principles, e.g. “all men are created equal,” and sovereign borders. That is why we have insane policies that harbor elements set upon defiance of law and order. We even elect them to public office.
No. Youre defending the process, if allowed to run thoroughly, guarantees a lifetime of work and very little illegals deported.
Ideal Democrat to be their Presidential candidate.
I am betting the document the Founding Fathers signed applies only to the citizen, as the Preamble suggests as much
I’m sure they were aware that any other interpretation was ultimately suicide.
It also means that it is not necessary to go third world dictator on anybody who is not a citizen. You can be both polite and firm, while taking the position that they have no cover from the Constitution.
Groan !
