After His Trump Blowup, Musk May Be Out. But DOGE Is Just Getting Started.

Elon Musk’s blowup with President Trump may have doomed Washington’s most potent partnership, but the billionaire’s signature cost-cutting project has become deeply embedded in Mr. Trump’s administration and could be there to stay.

At the Department of Energy, for example, a former member of the Department of Government Efficiency is now serving as the chief of staff.

At the Interior Department, DOGE members have been converted into federal employees and embedded into the agency, said a person familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation. And at the Environmental Protection Agency, where a spokeswoman said that there are two senior officials associated with the DOGE mission, work continues apace on efforts to dismantle an agency that Mr. Trump has long targeted.

“They are still internally going forward; we don’t really feel as if anything has stopped here,” said Nicole Cantello, a former lawyer for the E.P.A. who represents its union in Chicago.

Whether DOGE keeps its current Musk-inspired form remains an open question. Some DOGE members on Friday expressed concern that the president could choose to retaliate against Mr. Musk by firing people associated with the initiative. Others could choose to leave on their own, following Mr. Musk out the door. And DOGE’s role, even its legality, remain the subject of legal battles amid questions over its attempts to use sensitive government data.

But the approach that DOGE embodied at the outset — deep cuts in spending, personnel and projects — appears to have taken root.

Even with Mr. Musk on the sidelines, DOGE on Friday notched two legal victories. The Supreme Court said that it can have access to sensitive Social Security data and ruled that, for now, the organization does not have to turn over internal records to a government watchdog group as part...

That is the entire purpose. Every department will be scrutinized.

DOGE Is Just Getting Started.

Let's hope so.

Notice the ONE thing that the Left cried out about every moment of every day was when DOGE was revealing the massive fraud and waste that required massive cutback in the federal gov't. As soon as Musk was gone and the DOGE effort subsided, the Left quieted down.

That tells you that Trump through DOGE struck a central nerve and it did. The essence of the "Deep State" - exposing and abolishing the MASSIVE unconstitutional portion of the federal gov't.

I wish Trump would make Vivek VP and put him in charge of DOGE. Vivek is the ONLY public figure that I know of who actually calls for dismantling significant portions of the federal gov't - EXACTLY what needs to happen to extend and expand MAGA and restore our Free Constitutional Republic.

Politician JD Vance will never do that either as VP or as President. Trump picked the wrong VP...again.

Musk was the lightning rod for DOGE. He should be replaced with somebody who is going to keep after the DOGE people as they move deeper into the organizations and agencies, to ensure that they do not become .... bureaucrats.

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy knows what needs to be done.

Trump is not interested in doing it.

I would have a different approach. I would anticipate losing the Midterms in 2026. So he might as well as go all the way now.

On the other hand, to do what needs to be done, Trump is going to have to be like Andrew Jackson. He's not interested in doing that.

“weTrump picked the wrong VP..”

IMO, Vance is the best.

Don’t want a smarmy swarthy snake oil salesman next in line for the Oval Office. VR has attributes better used in other positions.

We’re in God’s hands now.

The same Divine Providence that miraculously birthed America in 1776 will miraculously restore America’s Free Constitutional Republic now.

Amen.

NEVER HAVE SEEN ANY PROOF THAT VIVEK IS NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

HE HAD PLENTY OF TIME ALREADY TO CLEAR THAT UP.

THEREFORE-—HE CANNOT BE VP.

In June 2016, six months after politician Pence was VP, Pence was everybody’s golden boy. Same thing now with politician JD Vance. I see no difference.

Summary on Vivek’s status as a natural born citizen (NBC):

NBC is a legal issue. Vivek Ramaswamy was born on August 8, 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents who were in the U.S. legally but not U.S. citizens. The U.S. Supreme Court (SC) has ruled that someone who is born on U.S. soil is an NBC if at the time of his birth, his parents were in the U.S. legally but not U.S. citizens. Therefore, according to the mandatory legal authority of sound constitutionally-based SC ruling and precedent, Vivek is an NBC.

Detailed argument

Since around 1900, (SC) rulings have become less and less valid because SC has gradually moved away from basing their decisions on the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended. But their ruling on NBC appear to be based on sound application of the Constitution.

In Perkins v. Elg, 99 F. 2d 408, Court of Appeals, Dist. of Columbia Circuit 1938, the Court of Appeals noted as part of the basis for their decision that...

In United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649, 18 S. Ct. 456, 42 L. Ed. 890, 1898 [the Court found that] [W]hen the Constitution was adopted, the people of the United States were the citizens of the several States for whom and for whose posterity the government was established. Each of them was a citizen of the United States at the adoption of the Constitution, and all free persons thereafter born within one of the several States became by birth citizens of the State and of the United States.

It appears the Court of Appeals in Elg (1939) agrees with Ark (1898) decison.

(Both Marie Elizabeth Elg and Wong Kim Ark were born on U.S. soil to parents who were here legally but not U.S. citizens. )

Again, the Constitution is properly applied as written and ORIGINALLY UNDERSTOOD and intended. What matters is what the ratifiers of the Constitution considered an NBC was. The Supreme Court decisions based on the good-faith and sound finding of original understanding of NBC in the Constitution is, therefore, legal precedent concerning NBC. Thus, Vivek should be considered an NBC.

Some argue that the term "NBC" is not specifically used in Ark or Elg, but these cases revolve around citizenship based on birth on U.S. soil, which is exactly what NBC is. An NBC is a citizen automatically because he was born on U.S. soil. He is “naturally” and automatically a citizen needing no further processing to become a U.S. citizen. He becomes a citizen under “natural” (birth) circumstances, exactly as Elg, Ark, and now Vivek.

If Congress did their jobs and Republicans would grow a spine, DOGE would not be necessary.

For me it’s not so much they money as much as it’s the complete archaic bureaucracy they keep funding to work like it’s 1939.

As much as the NYT would like to gaslight us into complacency, until DOGE changes are actually incorporated into federal law they are likely to be as ephemeral as piss in the ocean.

Sure it is lol.

“ At the Interior Department, DOGE members have been converted into federal employees and embedded into the agency, ”

This is like when they co-opted the old tea party name and came out with a tea party caucus, a couple of different tea parties etc. They ignored everything that Elon found with doge, they add an official doge person at every agency, and nothing will change. Good work a holes.

No government agency will shrink any further from this point on

Elon Musk has become a psychopomp.

President Trump's quite right to sever immediate and future ties with him as Musk has become untrustworthy and a political liability.

Musk has become petty, tawdry, and a miscreant using insider information about Trump he had gleaned from his work as a confidant of the President, and is now using that information against the president, assisting the MSM to create numerous tropes and spins on Trumps agenda..That's pretty dirty.

I do not believe that Musk will amount to much politically, no one will trust him on any side of politics. A betrayer.Who always knows better than anyone about whatever the issue might be from time to time ( grossly untrue, and somewhat megalomaniac.)

As to Musk and his companies? They can join the long line of businesses that submit bids to obtain federal contracts for their work and profit. Musk will receive no favors in that regard from either side of the political spectrum, once his usefulness to the left has expired.

We have had an “Et Tu Brute ?” moment in America, and Musk has hurt the country badly with that moment,in his whacko public ruminations about the President and the presidential agenda.
Musk can take his 20 pieces of silver and get lost back into the corporate oblivion from which he came.He will never be able to enslave MAGA, or the President, and that seems to have driven Musk quite around the bend.

They will indeed become bureaucrats. Every agency will co-ops their DOGE people. If you do not see people resisting them to the nail, that’s exactly what it is.
Hell, even the New York Times is celebrating this.

They have plenty of spine. Republicans would toss a baby over a cliff to get to a campaign donation.
