Friday on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) dismissed the possibility of the so-called “big, beautiful” spending bill stalling out on Capitol Hill because of Tesla CEO and former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk’s critique.
“All right, Speaker,” host Jesse Watters said. “Is Elon going to derail the big, beautiful bill?”
“Absolutely not,” Johnson replied. “Look, we are feeling the same energy that the President is. He’s leading. He’s delivering on his promises, and we all are. The big, beautiful bill is basically all those campaign speeches reduced to legislation. That’s what it is, that’s how important it is. Think of what’s in this, a record level of tax cuts, a record level of spending cuts, secure border, American energy dominance, again, regulatory reform, all the things that we promised, and we’re shoring up these essential programs that people rely upon. The President is making good on his promises, and we are, too, and that thing is on a glide path to be passed before Independence Day being signed into law.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Slavery Forever! Spending money our great great grandchildren are gonna break their backs to pay back.
Meaning we are going spent and steal all the tax we can.
Because @CynicalPublius puts it so much better than I can, a must read for anyone who still does not get it...

Awww, but it’s so much more fun, and far, far easier to allow oneself to be ignorant and/or angsty...
Exactly right. Thanks for sharing.
You are so right.
Agreed. It’s one thing to passionately point out the shortcomings of the Big Beautiful Bill to highlight the need for a 60-seat Senate majority to get what we all would really prefer. For this, I don’t fault Elon or anyone else for bringing up a point of contention, but there must be understanding that what we’ve got here is the best we can do for now, with hopes of perhaps something better in the near future cards are played properly.
But hopping on social media and excoriating the President just because you didn’t get a 100% victory like you want (and like you know is unachievable) is like a monkey throwing poop at someone out of anger. It’s unfruitful, and it makes you look like a stark raving mad lunatic.
DOGE the big bloated bill.
DOGE the big bloated bill.
DOGE has absolutely nothing to do with the BBB. It is TOTALLY separate. The only thing that the DOGE people did was to pull items to look into. All DOGE catches are taken care of in a rescission package.
Don’t let Sen. Paul do it either. Middle America needs its Trump tax cuts extended, and Republicans shouldn’t be the tax increasers for Democrat spending programs.
We don’t need Musk to derail the bill the senate is already doing a good job of that.
Amen: we’ll own nothing, not even our own unvaccinated blood, and we’ll be happy livestock and zoo animals, ripe for the culling.
Elon either derails the bill or destroys the GOP. Take your pick.
I doubt it will ever be paid off. Probably by then only crypto will be allowed which will most likely make the debt moot.
Agree. Elon would have been wise to air his disagreements quietly. He has probably ruined his relationship with Trump. The Epstein files comment was especially egregious.
And I have always been a huge fan of Elon.
The bill will derail itself.
