Army meets recruiting target months ahead of schedule
ABC ^ | 06 04 2025 | Luis Martinez

The U.S. Army met its annual recruiting target of 61,000 in the first week of June, four months ahead of the scheduled Sept. 30 deadline, after putting in place new initiatives to boost recruitment.

It marks a stunning turnaround for a service that failed to meet its recruiting goals in 2022 and 2023 and struggled in the years since to meet its annual targets.

"The U.S. Army has successfully met its fiscal year 2025 recruiting goals for active duty, signing contracts with more than 61,000 future Soldiers -- a full four months before the end of the fiscal year," the U.S. Army said in a statement. "This achievement represents a significant turning point for the Army and indicates a renewed sense of patriotism and purpose among America's youth."

Dan Driscoll, the secretary of the Army, said in a statement that he is "incredibly proud" of the service's recruiters and drill sergeants.

"Their colossal efforts and dedication to duty helped the U.S. Army accomplish our FY25 annual recruiting goal a full four months ahead of schedule," Driscoll added. "The U.S. Army is focused on lethality, taking care of our Soldiers, and transforming for a dangerous future -- young people across the country want to be part of the U.S. Army, and these results clearly demonstrate that."

The recruits were always out there; they were simply waiting for the Army to become itself again.

The article is a bit deceptive. The targets were lowered. The total Army personnel is still down from a recent peak in 2010, a low in 2016, a slight rise to 2021 before a drop in 2022 and another in 2023.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/232339/us-army-personnel-numbers/

This is like Jao Bai-din's handlers claiming prices went down, which was technically true, while the prices were still far higher than they were in 2019.

I’ve read that something like 68% of young men between 18 - 25 couldn’t pass the physical or drug tests and that’s not including some who may have legal overhangs. As a country we are in trouble if we can’t man an army.

I wonder if this includes delayed enlistments and the pre-basic conditioning program?

In any case looks promising.

Now that woke divisive distractions are being set aside, our military can refocus on what truly matters: the defense of America.
No matter your race, religion, or background, it’s about standing together—united in purpose, committed to a common cause, and proud to serve side by side - under one flag.

As a 30 plus year military retiree, I would still steer young people away from a career in today military.

Especially given the untrustworthiness of todays U.S. Congress and our continued participation in NATO along with defending Canada for free.

There is another reason for recent difficulty in recruitment, and it’s likely not all that focused on change of culture.

Rather, as many as 25% of High School seniors are on prescription adderal or ritalin, which defines a diagnosis of illness incompatible with military service. This number is up from 6% in 2013

I graduated from high school during the Jimmy Carter years. Neither I nor any of my friends in high school even considered joining the military. After Reagan was elected, joining the military became an option to consider again. Over the years, never serving in the military has been one of my regrets.

The Biden years were even worse than the Carter years. Who wants to join the military when the commander in chief is an imbecile?

We haven't needed an army since 1814.

Nowadays, the fat kid with video game control is the most effective combatant anyway.

Let’s just hope they are more interested in defending their country than serving as global thugs for the Deep State.

the recruits needed to know that they would actually get the training needed and that the officers would actually behave as if they were military officers not members of a burlesque show...I have no problem with anyone who is gay being in the military I do have a problem when some one’s LGB status protects them and when Trans is treated as anything other than a mental illness by the military.
