Sen. Ron Johnson: ‘Grotesque’ Big Beautiful Budget Bill Will Not Pass
Breitbart ^ | 06/04/2025 | Pam Key

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said Wednesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that President Donald Trump’s budget bill will not pass because it has a “grotesque” level of spending.

Johnson said, “The president and Senate leadership has to understand that we’re serious. They all say, ‘Oh, we can pressure these guys.’ No, you can’t. Again we’re we’re being very respectful. You know, I ran 2010 as part of the Tea Party Movement. We were mortgaging children’s future. We were $14 trillion in debt then now we’re over $37 trillion. We’re serious about this. They need to take us seriously. Don’t insult us. Work with us. Lay out the numbers. If you if you can say that our numbers are wrong, fine, let’s work through it.”

He added, “If we go increase interest rates 1%, that’s another $4 trillion over ten years in terms of deficit. If we don’t replace the $4 trillion, that’s $4 trillion of lost revenue again. In growing the economy 3%, it adds to it a little bit, but mostly in the out years. So again, come to the table, let’s look at the numbers. If I’m wrong, prove that I’m wrong. But let’s do it with respect but mainly respect for our children and grandchildren. This is immoral what us old farts are doing to our young people. This is grotesque what we’re doing. We need to own up to that. This is our moment. I can’t accept this scenario. I can’t accept it, so I won’t vote for it unless we are serious about fixing it.”

Co-host Joe Kernen said, “Let’s say we don’t split it and it’s going to be still be one big bill. What could the Senate put in the bill?

The GOOBers just need to forget it. The Fascist DemonRATS have won the 2024 election with their tyrannical, fascist piggy “district” Judges. Jackass refugee “judgies”.

If it doesn’t pass, taxes go way up on the middle class and we lose the midterms.

What part of “stop wasting money” do they not understand?

Politics is so pants down dirty it’s tough to put up with it.

I got into being “Conservative” as a teenager in the 1970’s partly on the notion that government spent too much money and needed to stop spending and that included the notion of balanced budgets.

How far into the gutter we have gone...

It seems he has a bit of a clue. I am not interested until I see a media headline talking of the irreparable damage to the country through over $1 trillion in budget cuts.

So that's your track record Ron?

“FFS, can we not go on CNBC and complain and just figure this bill out like adults???”

Amen. But, they would not get their faces on TV. It is more important to sneer the Big Beautiful Bill moniker than to actually accomplish the goals the voters mandated.

Here’s the way it works.

Democrats: We will raise taxes on the rich. That will solve the problem.
Result: The federal deficit increases.

Republicans: We will lower taxes on the middle class. That will solve the problem.
Result: The federal deficit increases.

I don’t know if those folks are delusional or deliberate liars. But one thing is for sure. If you don’t cut spending, nothing else matters.

There is no possibility that a Congress chosen by a popular vote election will do what is necessary.

They are unable to cut $9 billion (understandably, since if they do they will lose their jobs). They cannot cut $9 billion when cutting $900 billion would only be a down-payment on what needs to be done.

There is not a solution to this problem without a change in government, which will not occur.

Prepare.

The House has more GOP members who don’t want some of the Biden spending cut, because some slices of it is money going to their district for something or other.

My take is that Trump knew his priorities would face challenges passing the Senate, and this is part of a deliberate strategy for negotiations. As usual, Trump starts from an outrageous position to gain leverage in negotiations.

RINOs including Paul Ryan quit Congress in 2018. Democrats took over. Trump got impeached two times.

There are certainly no more political solutions. That is obvious.

He’s series! He says he is not running for reelection.

He was one of the “good” guys. Why is he becoming a traitor now?

Look at how much Trump has already done. Why don’t you trust him with this?

Why DIE on THIS hill?

What is Johnson’s counter proposal? Do nothing, raise taxes, enshrine none of Trump’s policies, then get slaughtered in the mid terms?

Like it or not the broad arguments against spending and increasing debt are lost for this congress. The spending is going to happen the question is if we get something for it. Alternative is to blow this and get some bipartisan monstrosity with rat votes (do not put that past Johnson).
