Senate rankings: The 5 seats most likely to flip
The Hill ^ | 06/01/25 | Al Weaver

Posted on 06/03/2025 7:27:37 PM PDT by T Ruth

***

Here’s an early look at the five Senate seats most likely to flip next year.

Georgia

Sen. Jon Ossoff (Ga.) is considered the most vulnerable Democrat on the Senate map ….

But ... Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) decided against a Senate bid, depriving the GOP of its top choice across the entire 2026 map.

***

... Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) is in, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is out, and operatives believe Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) may follow Carter into the primary.

***

NorthCarolina

If Democrats are going to make any headway toward winning back the majority, toppling Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) will be a must.

[T]hey are waiting to find out whether former Gov. Roy Cooper (D) is in or out ….

***

Maine

Does anyone want to face off with Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) next year?

***

One Democratic operative made clear to The Hill that there remains donor interest in playing ball — but only if a “legit candidate” takes the plunge.

Michigan

[T]he Michigan Democratic primary is [likely] to become the most contentious of the 2026 cycle as a trio of key players look to succeed retiring Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) ….

***

Across the aisle, former Rep. Mike Rogers (Mich.) is once again the Republican Party’s top choice to become its nominee. But unlike his 2024 run, he might have a primary on his hands as Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.) is moving closer to running.

***

NewHampshire

New Hampshire is considered a must-win state for Democrats in 2026.

[R]ep. Chris Pappas’s (D-N.H.) presence gives the party a top-tier candidate.

***

The major questions reside on the Republican side, as former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) is eyeing a second run in the Granite State 12 years after he narrowly lost to Shaheen.

They left off Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy !

Cassidy voted to impeach President Trump.

When he did so, he pissed off a lot of Republicans.

The democrats are rumored to be running former governor Edwards against him.

If a strong democrat like Edwards runs. And the Republican support is tepid, this is a likely loss for our side.

If Lara Trump runs against Thom Tillis, she will win the nomination easily.

Then she would crush whoever the Dem candidate is.

Getting good candidates for House member is easy. The only requirement is to be an idiot.

Senatorial candidates . . . where that’s another matter. To run for the Senate you also have to be an asshole.

(Pardon my French, but there is no other word in the English language that conveys the proper meaning.)

Kemp is a Nono.

Tillis is a ‘tard.

Collins is WAY past prime.

Nope. Roy Cooper is pretty popular. He'll win with around 52% of the vote.

Kemp is not popular with GA base.

I think he wants to run for President in 2028.

See my signature line. It should be hammered home against every Democrat
.

If they support mutilation or children they are pedophiles. If they support the acceptance of the mentally ill they are perverts.

The Democrats are the party of pedophile monsters. Republicans need to say that out loud.

Too bad there’s not a conservative willing to run in Maine; it looks to be a sure Democrat win with Susan Collins.

But the seat most likely to flip is in Texas, as deep state Cornyn is trailing his conservative challenger by a large margin.

Don't take anything for granite. We have to fight hard.

Georgia....Kemp would definitely NOT have been my choice. I couldn’t vote for him if I still lived in Georgia.

North Carolina.....is Tillis even going to survive the Republican primary? Lots of us hate his guts. I will never vote for him again.

Michigan

Can we please run somebody other than Deep State hack Mike Rogers?

The results of the 2022 elections both primary and general would seem to indicate he was and is popular.

Is there any Republican in Louisiana who is up to mounting a primary challenge?

“Nope. Roy Cooper is pretty popular. He’ll win with around 52% of the vote.”

######################

NO!

Cooper only won because the RINOs in Charlotte unfairly skewered Pat McCrory for putting in toll roads around Charlotte.

Stein only won because the Republicans did a horrendous job of vetting Mark Robinson.

North Carolina is decidedly Red. We have large majorities in the state House and Senate.

Two or three Trump rallies in North Carolina and Lara Trump is a shoe-in. Book it.

Lara lives in Florida now. She's on Fox News. She'll have to run against Tillis. Then potentially against Roy Cooper.

Not happening.
