A 16-year-old transgender athlete who is the focus of a US sports row has won two golds and a silver at the California high school track and field championship.
AB Hernandez was born a boy but has transitioned and now competes against girls.
And the teenager's inclusion in the girls category in the high jump, long jump and triple jump became a national conversation.
Critics, including parents, conservative activists and President Trump, had called for Hernandez to be barred from competing.
In the city of Clovis on Saturday, she took part under a new rule change brought in by the state's interscholastic federation, under which an extra student was allowed to compete and win a medal in the events where Hernandez qualified.
And it meant there were two winners when she finished first.
Hernandez shared first place in the high jump with Jillene Wetteland and Lelani Laruelle.
All three cleared a height of 5ft 7in (1.7m), but Hernandez had no failed attempts, while the other two had each logged one failure.

It really makes me wonder where the fathers of the real girls that participated were? We need real fathers to do what need to be done in order to keep this freak from participating.
Kneecaps, perhaps?
“””AB Hernandez was born a boy but has transitioned and now competes against girls. “””....even though she is still a dude.
It’s “gold” for Republicans if you ask me (politically)
It would be.. if you could convince all the idiots down in California to vote the correct way. Chances of that happening are between slim and none and Slim just left town.
you can always tell an article like this is biased, because they call the man a “her”
no, it is not a her it is a mentally ill MAN
Well, here’s another thing that men can do better than women.
Be women.
If this GUY had any decency he’d return the medal and give it to a girl who is most deserving of it. He won the medal by beating up a bunch of GIRLS, he couldnt compete in the boys division because he knew he would lose so hey lets pretend to be a girl so its an easy win and he won, easily, he barely broke a sweat
but hearing his mother yesterday on TV, now I understand why he’s messed up in the head, she probably always wanted a girl and from the day he was born told him that he was a girl and messed up his head
The silver medal winner should just be treated as the legitimate champ by the students and parents.
He had to wear a cup so his cock didnt fall out
Local media here keeps on calling him a HER..disgusting but not surprising the majority of the media here is full blown communist
Critics...have called for Hernandez to be barred from competing.
He got beat by a girl in the long jump.
It would probably be a safe bet to say that these “trans” girls (boys) don’t have a dad in their life or at best, a weak beta male dad. I’ve noticed that most of these “trans” girls are feminazi leftard mothers who wanted daughters and not evil toxic masculinity (boys).
Also funny that no “trans” boys (girls) are trying to compete in boys sports. Hmmmm.
Yes nice twisting of the language you spotted there
I’m so used to it now it didn’t leap out at me. But you’re right
See my post #14 “strong single woman alert “ aka woman who relies on government or a “child” support check from a guy to support her.

It’s California. Weirdos are celebrated. Meanwhile, DA’s can’t wait to prosecute (and persecute) anyone who tries to object.
Perhaps the best solution would be for the real girls to simply refuse to participate in these farces. Sort of like how some athletes took a knee for BLM.
On the other hand, it would be tough for a girl who trained and trained to give up her dreams. What a mess.
Precisely.
Since we live in a politically correct world now, I’m sure anyone thinking of taking such actions is afraid of going to jail.
Two female high-jump competitors refused to stand alongside a transgender rival on the podium at this weekend’s high school state championships in Oregon.
At least in one event he was beaten by a girl.
