In case you missed it, and the most blessed among us did, Sunday was the fifth anniversary of George Floyd’s death. Activists who didn’t succeed in getting police defunded, and others, gathered to mark the event and have a complaint-fest. Race hustler “Reverend” Al Sharpton, for example, compared Floyd’s plight to that of 14-year-old lynching victim Emmett Till.
“What Emmett Till was in his time,” Sharpton said in Houston, “George Floyd has been for this time in history.”
Mind you, Floyd was a criminal strung out on drugs, who was resisting arrest, when he died in Minneapolis. Till was at worst a cheeky adolescent boy who ran into the wrong people while visiting relatives in Mississippi. But, yes, Sharpton is right: There are similarities (i.e., both individuals are rumored to have drunk water at some point in their lives).
To such racial agitation, though, there’s increasingly a certain profound reaction.
Yawn.
This phenomenon has a name, too: “black fatigue.”
“Black fatigue” now has been labeled and is currently receiving much attention, but what breeds it is nothing new. Just consider a passage from black author Booker T. Washington’s 1911 book My Larger Education: Being Chapters from My Experience:
There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.

While the above’s terminology is dated, the message...

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Tawana changed her name and moved to Virginia, last I heard anyway.
The bottom line is, more and more Americans of all races are tired of the grievance-mongering.
Interesting article, thanks.
Frankly, even my super liberal friends who were actively advocating for BLM and Antifa riots back during heady days of the Summer of Love have pretty much had it BLM drama and BS
They are firmly in the Facepalm “ what was I thinking” camp when it comes to blacks just now.
Even for them, the race card is over drawn
Why would I want to know that and why should anyone care?
I will not even waste my time on this unless someone can tell me why.
I’ve have had it with identity politics, race baiting and perpetual victimization a long time ago!
I believe “black fatigue” is real when Jake from State Farm turns back to white again.
Or his wife turns back to black again.
OJ was white until he got into trouble.
Maybe it's just me, but I can't figure out the part of Negro culture where you bring a weapon to a family picnic and start shooting all your friends and relatives. It's an African thing. You wouldn't understand. They not like us.

The most catered too, soft, pathetic group of people ever.
Remember and live by rule #1 and your life immediately imporoves.
Till was killed by two men. In the past a lynching meant mob violence with a lot of people involved. Later civil rights activists redefined it to mean at least three people. But two is less than three.
Which is precisely why it is such a dysfunctional sh*t show today.
Every night, the local tv news is full of blacks killing mostly blacks, ocassionally other races. Not a single night goes by that some black has not robbed, raped or killed someone. And yet not a soul in a position of authority dares to mention what is going on.
Every news article showed mostly white women showing up.
“Who’s more racist, black people or white people? Black people, ‘cause black people hate black people, too.” - Chris Rock
BLM/Antifa is predominantly college aged women who are so smart they buried themselves under a mountain of student loan debt for a degree that will never enable them to pay it off.
They are mad as Hell about it, and blame everybody but themselves.
