Millions of Americans are set to no longer be routinely offered the Covid vaccine.
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior revealed today the the shot would not be recommended for healthy children and healthy pregnant women.
RFK Jr said he 'couldn't be more pleased' to make the announcement, adding that it was 'common sense' and 'good science.'
The move reverses previous guidance which recommended the Covid vaccine to everyone aged six months old and over.
In a video on X revealing the announcement, RFK Jr said: 'Last year, the Biden administration urged healthy children to get another Covid shot despite the lack of any clinical data to support the repeat booster strategy in children.'
The recommendation for the Covid vaccine for young and healthy individuals has long been criticized, given that the groups face a low risk of hospitalization and death from the virus.
There are also concerns over side effects linked to the shots, including myocarditis — or heart inflammation — which is rare but more common among young adults.
The FDA is also reportedly re-analyzing whether the evidence supports boosting healthy people under 65 against Covid.
RFK Jr announced the move with a video of himself flanked by Dr Marty Makary — the new FDA head — and Dr Jay Bhattacharya — the new head of the NIH, which funds research.
Dr Bhattacharya added: 'That ends today. It's common sense and it's good science.'
Dr Makary said: 'There's no evidence that healthy kids need it today and most countries have stopped recommending it for children.'

See kids, this is what “following the science” REALLY looks like. These guys actually “do science”!
Given that this change affects children and pregnant women exclusively, the population control contingent must be terribly upset that the two demographics they hate the most won’t be guilted into taking something that may harm them.
Many politicians are worse than the new strain of Covid. Their morals have been compromised They should have the shots. Many shots. They put the entire republic in danger.

Nonsense. The restrictions make perfect sense and are easy to understand.
We are not as stupid as the left either thinks we are or wishes we were.
The story is he’s still pushing the killer shots for the vulnerable.
We did a lot of traveling as well, since we had just bought our house in NH. We were making monthly trips to work on things and to move a load of stuff with every trip.
Travel was a pleasure. Hardly any traffic on the road and we had the rest stops to ourselves. It helped us make great time.
We only wore the masks when using the rest stops for necessary bathroom breaks. No choice if we didn’t want to get arrested.
RFK is not “restricting” anyone from getting any COVID vaccine. He is only changing to whom any Covid vaccine is recommended or not recommended. In other words, beyond any recommendation or absence of a recommendation from the federal government, to get a Covid vaccine or not will be decided by patients and their doctors, without any federal “restriction” about those choices.
