Trump’s Ukraine envoy explains what needs to happen for ‘strength’ bloodshed to end as brutal Russian war rages

The carnage in Ukraine has led to casualty rates “beyond World War II numbers” as the “industrial-strength killing” rages on the battlefield, the US special envoy for Ukraine lamented Tuesday.

Retired Gen. Keith Kellogg was adamant that negotiations are the sole way to end the bloodshed and that President Trump is the “only guy” who can lead those deliberations.

“President Trump is absolutely right, you’ve got to stop the killing,” Kellogg told “Fox & Friends.” “I call it industrial-strength killing, when you’ve got casualties on both sides that are over 1 million and right now, conservatively, about 1.2 million.

“That is stunning,” he said. “That is beyond World War II numbers.”

“The carnage in Ukraine has led to casualty rates “beyond World War II numbers” as the “industrial-strength killing” rages on the battlefield”

That statement makes him unqualified for the important role he has been given.

It’s a BS lie designed to further one side’s interest in a war.

What about the 8 million Ukrainians who have left Ukraine. I doubt many of them will be back soon.

According to GROK

Estimates of military deaths during World War II vary, but most sources place the total at around 20-25 million. This includes:

Soviet Union: 8.7-11.3 million
Germany: 4-5.3 million
Japan: 1.5-2.1 million
China: 3-4 million
United States: ~405,000
United Kingdom: ~384,000
France: ~210,000
Italy: ~300,000
Poland: ~240,000
Other nations: Smaller numbers, collectively significant

These figures cover combat deaths, missing in action, and deaths from wounds or disease. Civilian deaths are excluded. Data varies due to incomplete records and differing methodologies.

The administration is screwing up the messaging on the US position on Ukraine. Trump came into office somewhat hubristically claiming that he'd resolve the war before he was sworn in. When that didn't happen, we heard leaks that the administration was going to stop trying to act as the middleman and let the two side fight it out. Recently, Trump has been tweeting from the sidelines about how both sides need to stop and it isn't working. Now Kelly is saying Trump is the only guy who can negotiate an end to the war. They are setting themselves up for failure.

He’s talking about casualty rates, not total numbers. I have no idea how accurate his estimates are.

I consider the cessation of American involvement in this war a SUCCESS… NOT A FAILURE. It’s NOT OUR WAR!

World War II[b] or the Second World War (1 September 1939 – 2 September 1945) was a global conflict between two coalitions: the Allies and the Axis powers. Nearly all of the world’s countries participated, with many nations mobilising all resources in pursuit of total war. Tanks and aircraft played major roles, enabling the strategic bombing of cities and delivery of the first and only nuclear weapons ever used in war. World War II was the deadliest conflict in history, resulting in 70 to 85 million deaths, more than half of which were civilians. Millions died in genocides.

Trump needs to ask the Russians for their complete terms for a long-term deal. Ukraine, with State Department help, can then respond in a complete manner.

If every issue is out in the open, then each and every issue can be handled in the best way possible, which is often to accept the status quo.

Ukraine isn’t going to sign away Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk or even one square meter.

Russia is going to want its money back, but it will only get it back gradually over a period of at least ten years.

Since Russia doesn’t want NATO in Ukraine, Ukraine must have armed forces with unlimited personnel and defensive weapons.

This can’t all be hammered out in 24 hours, but 24 days is enough time.

Sitting around a table haggling over every detail is a very slow method of dealing with things.

On this blog, we deal with issues fast, faster than 24 hours, faster than....

Negotiations are for general public consumption. Russia has no intention of stopping the war for any reason whatsoever and has said as much many times. Negotiations are a Western media fantasy.

There can be no deal.

Suppose Ukraine and Russia agreed to the lines of combat at the moment. Russia agrees no further expansion and Ukraine agrees no foreign troops will be allowed in and no NATO membership.

Why would either side believe the other? There can be no enforcement mechanism agreeable to both sides.

The only solution has been clear from day 1. Ukraine has to have a pro Russia government. Putin is a statesman and is holding back far more hardline options within his own govt.

Does anyone really think Russia is loaded with politicians who want to surrender in Ukraine, and its 90 mile distance to Russia’s Caspian oil fields? There are none of those politicians. Zero. Russia’s govt is loaded with what you would expect — pro Russia politicians.

Ukraine will have to have a pro Russia gov’t. Nothing else is going to work.

A large number wish to go back: living as a refugee in Europe isn't all it's cracked up to be unless you're coming from Afghanistan or sub-Saharan Africa.

But they won't go back until a cessation of hostilities.

Rate, not totals

How does the rate of casualties compare?

Trump needs to ask the Russians for their complete terms for a long-term deal. Ukraine, with State Department help, can then respond in a complete manner.

Russia has stated thier terms; Demilitarized/de-nazified Ukraine with zero NATO presence, and Ukraine/NATO can kiss Crimea and the Russian areas they were shelling goodbye. Also, elections among other things.

What so many are failing to see - or admit - is Russia simply moved their border a little to the left/west. That's a done deal notwithstanding ground troops or a nuke war.

It's hard to understand what the west aims to accomplish - nobody can tell us what the endgame is. Russia ain't going nowhere... but we're somehow compelled to keep sending arms and funds. For what?

Trump is becoming Biden at this point. His options were always identical.
