Russia is preparing new offensives, according to Ukraine intelligence: Zelenskyy

Ukrainian intelligence and open-source data show Russian President Vladimir Putin does not "plan to end the war," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his daily evening address Monday.

"There is currently no indication that they are seriously considering peace or diplomacy," he added. "On the contrary, there is ample evidence that they are preparing new offensive operations."

The address came after an overnight exchange of long-range cross-border drone attacks between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine's air force said Russia launched a total of 364 "air attack vehicles" -- nine cruise missiles and 355 attack drones -- in the latest bombardment.

All missiles and 288 drones were shot down or neutralized in flight, Ukraine's air force said. Impacts were reported in five regions and falling debris in 10 regions, it added.

Russia's Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said its forces downed 128 Ukrainian drones over 12 regions from Sunday night into Monday morning.

Near-nightly cross-border strikes have become a prominent feature of Russia's war on Ukraine, now more than three years old with little sign of an imminent ceasefire or peace deal. Recent months have seen the bombardments grow in size.

On Saturday night into Sunday, for example, Russia launched what Ukrainian officials described as its largest aerial attack of the war. The assault included 367 drones and missiles and killed at least 18 people, officials said.

The weekend attacks prompted Trump to rebuke both Putin and Zelenskyy on his social media platform on Monday.

"I'm not happy with what Putin is doing," he wrote. "He's killing a lot of people, and I don't know what the hell happened to Putin. I've known him a long time. Always gotten along with him, but he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don't like it at all."

The words Zelensky and intelligence should never be used together.

How is that possible?

Zeepers and the British media keep telling us how bad a shape the Russian military is in. Is this an admission they lied?

Really? You question his intelligence when your comment is childish and stupid and without substance.

Yeah he lacks the genius of your hero Putin the mass murderer who Zelensky has successfully frustrated for 4 damn years.

No one told you anything, Ivan.

It’s your hero Putin who says he had to fight his way out of a Ukrainian drone S storm.

Mighty Russia, 4 years later, it’s stupid despot surrounded by hundreds of homemade drones.

I think the use of deep missiles implies they lack front line ground strength. They are basically lashing out on land they cannot take.

Why have they started spelling Zelensky with 2 “y”s recently?

“They are basically lashing out on land they cannot take.”

The Russians can take hostile territory, but really don’t have the ability to hold it.

Therefore, the Russians are simply trying to kill Ukrainian troops.

IF anyone can take a moment for serious analysis.
President Trump doesn’t want to be in this war, and he wants it ended now.
But Putin is a very dangerous individual and very deceitful.
Trump has largely gotten the Ukraine side under control.
But now he doesn’t want to see Russia take Ukraine. And Putin isn’t cooperating.
So we have talk about not our war, along with talk of the downfall of Russia.
Trump’s transactional view of the world is great, but societies at war have their own deadly logic. At that point, they will see their cities wrecked and their people and economy decimated, and keep fighting until a military solution is imposed.
So you either have to let Russia slowly succeed,or you buy into the European view that eventually Russia will run out of capacity.
Trump was right to want to end this now, but so far that’s not looking possible.
Putin has spent decades hollowing out Russia, so they lack other leaders, he is not feeling the normal pressure to end a ridiculous war.
If you don’t follow Putin, they pick you up in vans, or they throw you out a window.
The only thing Putin will fear is his own death, or his own loss of power.
Putin is an absolute idiot because he’s chosen war and destruction (not just in Ukraine) over a prosperous society.
But he’s a dangerous idiot.
Unless Putin is tired of the war, you’re only going to stop him with military reversal or at least a stalemate.
Maybe he’s trying to end the fighting with the “buffer zones” he’s talking about.

The Russians are a break point.

They are either going to have a negotiated peace on acceptable terms or they are going to finish the war by winning it.

Zelensky knows exactly what is going on because the Russians are telling him exactly what his options are for Ukraine.

The Russians are getting their ducks in a row and are preping the battlefield for the offensive that will follow the failure of negotiations.

The Russians are focused winning the impending military battle while Zelensky is focused on winning the blame game and the PR messaging battle

This will not end well.

Surely Putin wouldn’t try to shoot Ziggy’s helicopter down like Ziggy tried to do to him?

That would be so mean.

“Therefore, the Russians are simply trying to kill Ukrainian troops.”

Those things happen in wars. Doesn’t seem to bother the Neocons though, they seem to be enjoying it all (until more cities fall to Russia, that is).

Putin knows that all he has to do is to outlast the West.

Our track record isn't very good recently.

We gave up in Vietnam and Afghanistan.

The war in Ukraine is expensive. The Europeans have to maintain their generous welfare states. The Americans are getting tired of doing the lion's share of supporting Ukraine. Trump is not a happy camper. But at the same time he knows he has to support Ukraine.

When the war started I was conventionally anti-Russian. (My comment on FB on day 1 of the war was that “I keep trying to like the Russians, and they keep screwing it up.”) But while I came around 180 degrees in the months that followed, one thing never changed: I took for granted that the Russians would win, for the reasons you mentioned.

I guess you haven’t been to any of our Democrat-run big cities recently. We’re doing a pretty good job wrecking ourselves. It’s time to give up on these foreign conflicts and fix our own house.
